Going to a movie isn't that bad, as long as you go somewhere after (such as a restaurant). I've done that before, movie then dinner.
Plus the movie can help get the discussion going

movies on the first date is a horrible idea. Since yall barely know each other the silence in the theater makes for a fairly awkward ride back (ive learned form experience

) but i would suggest going to a cheap cheap restaurant. You get to spit game and keep your wallet from taking a hit.

Movie makes it mad awkward afterward.

If you're in the LA area, I've found that the Griffith Observatory is a great place to take a date.

Or, if both of you have seen '500 Days of Summer' you can take her to that park bench scene in the city and have a little picnic there.

I've found pretty good success at each of those places.

This.

I also like concerts. I've been on a few of those for the first date. Good times.

do something with the season...ie its winter time...go ice skating or take a drive to see the xmas lights if they have the trails andstuff...summer/spring...picnics, paddle boat riding, etc.

i like doing competitive things too like bowling, laser tag, sportszone. etc... but im a tomboy at heart so....

museums and comedy shows are always interesting as well.. movie and dinner are so played.

Do something fun and engaging. Adult Arcade, midnight bowling, mini golf etc. Go to a childrens museum and crack jokes.
Then get food.

going to an art gallery/exhibit & getting drinks after is also a cool idea. come to think of it, anything involving alcohol & an intimate settingsounds like a plan.
