DC Heads: Whats the best area to get a hotel in?

Im gonna be in DC in a couple weeks, and want to see what streets are the best to get a hotel in. If you have any specific hotels too, thats a plus. I'dlike to be in a good downtown area. It would be nice to be by the good restaurants/clubs, but I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't mind sightseeing too. Isa rental car recommended or is it like Chi were you basically walk/train everything? Props.... Any good places to go?

I'm no expert on the hotels here,but maybe checking for spots in Chinatown or Georgetown would be your best bet.As far as getting around,i'd say takethe Metro.You can pretty much get to wherever you need to go.

Galleria/Chinatown.

Georgetown is nice too, but you be on the bus since there's no immediate metro access in that area. Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom are the closest metrostations.
