At this point I'm wondering if Universal /Comcast or Viacom/National Amusements could.

Before I would say none of that was possible, don't even entertain the thought but I wasn't paying attention how these media conglomerates get down with how even some of them are being bought up by bigger corps.

Warner has owned DC for almost 50 years and they're still having trouble getting projects off the ground.

Disney has owned Marvel for only 11 years and is making bank with their lesser-known characters while they're at it.
