DID CANCER HATS GO TOO FAR ?

JUST HOURS before dawn on May 14, Jackie Underwood's three daughters held her in their arms as the cancer stole the last breath from her broken body.

For many days before, and almost every day since, her children - Makia Underwood, 32, Zakia Clark, 29, and Tasha Clark, 27 - have worn hats and shirts that read "F--- CANCER," with the "C" in "F---" replaced by a breast-cancer-awareness ribbon.

"That's how we feel. It took our mom away. It's a demon. It's the devil," Zakia Clark said. "There are no other words you can use to explain how you feel. You want cancer to get cancer and die."

Zakia and Tasha Clark were wearing their black-and-pink "F--- CANCER" hats Sunday when the three sisters went to King of Prussia Mall with a group of friends and relatives to pick out a dress for Zakia's 9-year-old daughter to wear to her grandmother's funeral today.

The ladies had just sat down when a security guard approached them and, without a greeting, ordered: " 'Take your hats off,' " Zakia said.

Was the mall security right for what they did ? Would you wear this hat in public to express your feelings towards this matter ?

there's shirts that say f**k everything else.

who cares if a hat says f**k cancer?

and that security guard has no right to tell anybody to take a hat off. wtf?

thats what im saying esp if i just lost my mother to Cancer ima express my feeling how i want. I know if that was me i would of put up a fight and they would of had to remove me in handcuffs. Noone is gonna tell me what i can and cant wear.

Like you said just about everything from shirts to socks has that word on it Actually spelled out, this only had Fu with a ribbon and a K

Were there complaints from other shoppers, or the store they were in? If so then they should understand why some would feel it was offensive, especially if they had children with them. But if the security guards were doing this on their own then some empathy should have been used.

Can't blame the family for feeling how they feel. At least they put on shirts and not go out and wild out on people.

I've seen worse on shirts, so I don't think they went too far.  Then again, I live in California, which is pretty liberal about attire...

From the comments section:

Well, it's rather obvious you wore this clothing to provoke a reaction. You got a reaction. It just wasn't the reaction you wanted.

Sums up how I feel.

wow paul blart's trying to be tough guys, I don't see why wearing that had would be a problem. I agree with them **** CANCER

pretty sure the security guard was the only one who had a problem with it so he approached them while they was eating. He even called real cops and all smh. I don think that was needed at all

I bet the approach of the guard started this all up.

If he has just asked nicely for them to take them off and explained why..  this would probably be a non-story

I heard about this yesterday. Maybe it's a bit too shocky for some, but I don't mind. I know I wouldn't want to be the one that told them to take them off...I don't wanna seem like I'm riding for cancer.

LOL this is a joke.    I don't see what the big deal is.  They don't want people to rock that hat with the C taken out yet they let girls walk around with their butt and breasts all out for children to see which is inappropriate.   lol Plus they are taking away their freedom of speech.

would you want your little 5 year old daughter to see this
Or this?
Don't have a problem with gays but gay or straight you can't go walking around with hardly nothing on in public places where children are gonna be present.    I see people dressing like this all the time at the mall.

I wonder if I goto KOP with weed socks on to where they are noticeable If ill get escorted out or told to take them off? I haven't been to this mall in awhile cause its out the way but I'm pretty sure there are stores in there that sells shirts/hats/shorts with worse **** on them

I'm there once a week usually it's 10 min from me

The security guards are wannabe cops

That retail warrior woulda been fired on the spot that same day if it was me. Complaints would be made until justice was served

It says in the OP that they wear clothing where the C and F are switched, in other word: **** Fancer.

Read that wrong, still...

I find nothing really "offensive" about their hats/clothing.

A mall is a public space. They should be allowed to wear a hat/clothing of their choosing, not least ones that have been purposely stripped of any offensive material.

Those glorified cops were in the wrong.
