Do you think artists get offended when only asked to do a hook?

Should that be taken as offensive? Like they're not good enough to drop a verse? Or why do you think that this happens in most cases?

Not really, with most rappers egos, they probably think the artist doesn't want to be outshined.

Okay, what makes you realize that? What if it was something that you really liked and you just got that feeling that you would drop a hot verseto? Would you just say $$#+ it and just snatch the beat and make some mixtape %++$? Would that suffice?

if i'm asked...i'ma do it the Drake way...do the hook...
then release a separate song in itself later for fun.

after he did his remix on Still Fly, noone remembers
( or even knows about ) Page's original Still Fly.

Yes, we do. And we shouldn't. What TIME said is absolutely true. The hook is the THESIS for the song... just look at "I'ma Hustla" forexample. That hook (and the fact that it was Jay-z on it) MADE that song. As a musician, it's hard to accept doing just the hook.

    EDIT:

Ayo bruh, kiss my.... I take pure offense to this statement. It ain't always about the check. Some people are just born to create art and they'll give it all they've got because that's what they do. It's hard to only give a partial effort, or to swallow your pride when someone asks for only a portion of what you feel you can bring to the table. That's like Devin Hester being STUCK on KR and PR for his ENTIRE career. I'm sure dude wants to put up points on offense too and would feel %#%%#@ if he didn't get his chance. That's like Ben Gordon playing bench minutes when he is starter material.

as if cats is askin you for hooks. lol, why u got no buzz? No hate or nothin, but i always get a little chuckle out of son when he says "we" as ifnebody outside of nt has heard of him.

Why take offense? Money aside, if your asked to be on a hook there's a reason for it. You that good/hot at the moment, why not do it. Youcan give 100% on a hook and totally make that record.

If I were an artist, I'd be flattered if someone wanted only a hook from. It shows interest and would be a way to get my music heard especially if I weredoing it for the love. I'm sure it aint the same as being asked to drop 16, but sometimes slow and steady wins the race.

You got the idea. Like I said, we do take offense, but we shouldn't-- for all the reasons you said. It's a pride thing mostly... you know how thatgoes. And trust me, you'd be surprised how quick the flattery would wear off. After while, if you were a complete artist you'd wonder why people don't take you serious enough. There are some artists who excel at their niche andthat's great, but not too many guys are content with being role players in the game for too long.

But he's the perfect example IF you really see where I'm going ...Pride man. Pride. I'm telling you what he feels he deserves and I'm also saying why he's being requested to do a particular thing instead. It parallels bro. Samewith BG...
