I have a job interview tomorrow for a job in another department and I'm just trying to figure out if theres going to be any questions that have to do with the fact that I'm an internal applicant. I'll ask any questions if you guys need them to advise me.

PLS RESPOND

I don't get the question...

Of course they're gonna bring up that you're internal... And if they don't, you do.

I meant to ask if theyre going to tailor any of the questions towards it "why are you leaving the job you have, what happens if you dont get this one" etc etc

They'll definitely ask your current supervisor how your performance is so don't try and exaggerate anything. Learn all you can about the department you're interviewing for and how you can help the interviewer or department fulfill their goals and why you're the best candidate for the position (hint... you already know internal processes and company culture). If they ask why you're leaving your current job, be honest. But DO NOT say anything negative about your current department even if it's true. Whatever you do, put a positive spin on every situation because if you don't then most interviewers will see that you'll do the same thing to their department once you leave and may even inject that negativity while you're working there. If they ask what happens if you don't get the job, tell them you'll keep working your butt off in your current job and work at becoming an even more valuable employee to your current department.

Thanks. I expected this to be an informal thing, until I found out that the person doing the inital phone interview is from the head office even though we have a HR person here. Totally threw me off.Repped
The thing that sucks about interviews for internal positions is you can't ******** your way thru it

Keep it 100 and show them why they need you.

Do not throw your previous dept / managers under the bus.

YES! I went from one department to the other BUT I did the most dumbest thing ever. I applied for two jobs in two different departments at the same time. When I was interviewing for one, they straight up asked me which position I am going for because she had spoke to the manager at that department. Ever since then, you need to be careful because people talk and your name will always come up.
