help me out:
does it change anything about getting into a good college depending on the high school that i go to? would it change anything if i went to an easy school andgot A's and B's compared to going to a better school ( i go the 2nd best high school in boston) and getting C's and D's? thats what im in now, getting c's and d's but now just c's mostly and my friends go to anotehr school and they get a's and b's, its one of hte easiest inboston..help me out!

go for the bad school with a's and b's// you'll stand out more... receive more attention in school... you'll be more likely to get help fromguidance...

go to the good school. college admissions do weigh in the difficulty and rigor of the school. plus it will prepare you better in their eyes, and thus make youmore of a competitive candidate. my hs is ranked 26th in the nation by US News & World Report and colleges always tell us how important it is to go to amore difficult school. they actively recruit and fish for students in more competitive secondary schools.

What school?

if it's the difference between a 4.0 and a 3.0, stick with the tough school. if it's the difference between a 4.0/3.0 and a 2.0 or lower, take the easyroute.

boston latin academy

so everyone isnt really answering lol but now i have like 2.0 or someting and im tryin to get it up to a 3.0, will that show something? like that i was doingbad and it turned better

like that i was doing bad and it turned better
yes that definitely is a good thing. if you think you can improve to a 3.0 then tough it out at your school now. colleges definitely do take intoaccount the difficulty of courses you have taken and where. They also prefer that you get a C in an AP class than anA/B in a regular college prep course.

^yeah thats what im asking mostly, like now im in all normal classes and ive been slacking first two and a half terms of 10th grade (mostly c's anmdd's and 1 f in geometry for 2 terms) but now im getting mostly c's beause i started to try after half the term was done and probably a d- in geoemtry, and this is all at a tough school

Boston latin is a damn good school... I went to the "RI version" as our guidance counselors were always telling us..def do the best you can, but makesure you're weighing your options correctly. If you're doing poorly in a school with high standards then you need to think about a few things. Ifyou're not motivated now, chances are you're not gona be motivated in college (not everyone).

Think about the classes you're taking now and in the future. There's nothing wrong with sprinking your course schedule with AP classes instead of APclasses sprinkled with "regular" classes. Do what's the best for you, both now and in the future.....*

*get some tutors, get your grades up and stay on track and you'll be cool. The easy route will do you no good unless there is a REAL REASON, besideslaziness, as to why you can't perform well..

Well you write things such as 'like that i was doing bad and it turned better" you probably will not get into a decent college anyway so Iwouldn't worry about it. PS your grammar is AWFULLLLLL and you are dumbbbb, so it doesn't matter where you go, you FAIL.

damn i didnt even kno i wrote that woops i meant to say that my grades improved

if you have lower than a 3.0 i would go to the weaker school. but if you are around a 3.0 then just stay there

Sorry but... with a 2.0 you're screwed anywhere unless you go to Philips Academy or something along those lines. But...Boston Latin? The only chance of youavoiding CC is if you applied to some bunk college within Boston where at least they know what Boston Latin is. Cause quite frankly, nobody is going to takethe time to look up Boston Latin and most people won't even know what it is. It's another thing if you had a 3.0...but damn 2.0 you didn't even tryin high school...can't even blame it on how hard it is. So to answer your question: No they aren't going to care.

i got that same problem.

i go to one of the top 5 best high schools in the US and im getting a 3.05 which doesnt look very good to many state colleges and universitys. however, manysmall liberal arts colleges know what my school is about and give us (the students) a nice little GPA boost.

im still in the 10th grade wtih 2.5 more years left of high school

the main thing is getting good grades wherever you go
no matter what, 2 .0 and a 3.0 won't even come close to cutting it, not when there are people who are getting 4.0+ at other better schools (and there arealways 'better' schools)
it's not like you can get away with not doing your work at in a less rigorous environment, you'll just get lost amongst the crowd
there's a reason why there are selection processes
they don't care that you go to a 'better' school when ur only getting c's
at the same time, just because you are getting a's in ur shop class you aren't fooling anyone. especially not the kid getting straight b's for hisIB scholarship
at one point or another in life, if you DO want to succeed, you'll need to buckle down and smoke one less joint, drink one less forty, NOT holla at thatone girlie and just do the damn work thats layed in front of u
take it from me,
i partied all high school and now i'm stuck on commonapp.org and princetonreview.com again for my transfer apps
don't be an idiot

this is all if ur immediate goal is to go a prestigious college though...

not always true

cs and ds in HS can be the death of your college app

You might have 2.5 yrs left but remember that college app deadlines are typically in December of your senior year. So you technically only have 2years. You would want to stay at the school you're in right now because they are actually preparing you for college. Why would you want to attend a highschool that isn't preparing you and getting you ready to college? If and when you do go into college you might end up having to transfer to a differentcollege because you weren't ready for it. I used to work for a college/university and would see students who had gone to an easy high school andparticipated in a college bound program, have a hard time in college. A good number would end up dropping out or transferring out. I would say stick to itand try to make some changes to improve your grades.

true. it is so much easier to stand out more if you come from a bad school.

Go to the weaker school and get A's/B's. Unless you're going to Andover, Exeter, or Choate, your mediocre GPA won't mean @%*$ in the eyes ofAdComs.
