I couldnt do much with that patent leather man, it looks pretty bad,

Only thing you could do is dye the white parts black to make it blend it a little more
    Yes you do man!!

cant wait to see the finished product!
Try some sort of suede conditioner
Dam man those were yellow as heck!

You did a great job removing the toecap paint and unyellowing them the right way

    Major props!

I'm attempting my first restoration of some '06 FR 3's.

How many coats of fire red do you guys normally use?

I am applying very thin coats but I still see streaks.

Do you think I can use very fine sandpaper to try and get those out?

i repainted the same shoes i think i did like 6 coats. the first like 3 coats are kinda opaque then the last few coats you should see the red really start to pop

Thanks. Do you remember what size paint brush you used? I think I'm using a #4 which is like a quarter of an inch wide, but I noticed in the sneakerheadinthebay youtube video he recommended a #2. I wonder if a wider blade may help.

Milk Oil I believe is only for leather.  Try looking for a suede conditioner
Yep, 6 coats is about right.  Just keep putting on those thin coats until you really start to see colour in full effect.
A wider brush will help eliminate brush strokes (in my experience) just remember to use soft and light strokes (pause)

    in the same direction

Man Doms, relatively new to NT but not to collecting shoes, just read all 19 pages of this thread, you sir do some impressive work.  Nothing is better then bringing a pair of beat OGs back to life.  That being said I just got gifted a pair of OG Cherry 12's, only have one question, Im going to repaint the white leather upper and probably the red leather as well.  Do I just prep the areas lightly with the acetone before painting and then let it rip? (already cleaned the shoes as well of course).  Thanks for answering my question in advance good to see people in this game that are still willing to help others.

Haha I actually had a previous screen name that Im not about to reveal! lol

And thanks for the kind words!

As for your cherry 12's, you pretty much got it, prep the areas you're going to paint with the

acetone and then like you said "let it rip" lol

Also, make sure not to lay the coats too heavy or else the paint will seep into the stitching holes and block them up, so keep the paint coats always light.

So I used Retrobrite and it worked fine in bringing back my icy sole, but veven though I taped and double-taped with 3M blue painters tape, this is what I saw when i took the tape off....Suggestions?.....

Thanks guy, really excited to be part of the team!
    Hey,

It seems that you may have put too much retrobrite on the soles and it leaked right through the tape, unfortunately the only

thing I can recommend is to try deep cleaning it but even that may not get all the stains out
