No, Cuba was a slave port as well. I have no empathy for white people suffering in areas that African slaves built. Usually, they weren't supposed to be where they are suffering in the first place, as they are also probably the descendants of the oppressors, falling upon hard times. If Castro hastened their plight, so be it. Castro could not get rid of social racism, as that was ingrained into that society. You can't stop white people from thinking that they are better than everyone else due to the color of their skin, not when they are able to point to the rest of the western world, then being able to point to the white patriarchal privilege that exists there. But Castro was well intentioned in his beginning efforts. He still helped Africa, and other things. White America loves to demonize anyone who is not white and european, so as Malcolm X once said, "any time a white man tells you that you are doing something wrong, more than likely you are doing something right."

Like I said many "white" hispanics align with Spain more so than their new world brethren which is why it's dumb for us who aren't hispanic to talk about Hispanics like they are some united group or something. The only thing these people have in common is that their ancestors were conquered by the spanish (heck many of them descend more from the spanish than they do the indigenous people of those lands or Africans).

I think people are "let down" when they hear of Hispanics supporting Trump simply because they assume all Hispanics move the same way which is false.

There is a clear divisiveness on what we are taught in the United States and how people around the world view Castro.


I dont agree with his Socialist policies, but Castro led a successful revolution against a U.S. propped up Dictator. The U.S. hated Castro not because he was a "Marxist-Socialist", but they hated him because he threw out their monopoly (United Fruit, or Chiquita Banana). He resisted against U.S. imperialism/colonialism.

We can criticize Castro for his tactics for jailing, censoring, and killing dissidents, but the U.S. does the same thing. Hell this country kills citizens with drones, btu Castro is an "animal"?


I only wish Puerto Ricans had a leader like Castro to resist U.S. occupation.

Isn't PR's economy in the toilet right now? Without the US subsidies wouldn't things be impossible on that island?
