It's interesting seeing some of the arguments/ concerns in here and measuring it against what i know on the other side. Driving is cool sometimes, but the thought of sitting back chilling if i don't feel like it
against variable probability called da human mind? LOL with all due respect, you must really hate your car LOL. face it folks, America has an entrenched car culture not unlike da gun culture. people love driving emphasis on LOVE. first thing a person does when he fall into some money is get themselves a fly car....
United States one of the most litigious countries in the world, people are looking to sue everybody and anything... these gizmos being accountable is da whole ball of wax...da way it looks like now is if one accident can stop da whole system, it ain't lookin good lawsuit wise.
Only at page 2... RIP to the lady. I think this will be a just a 'fatal snag,' in the driverless car industry. We have been hitting pedestrians for years. I read about hit and runs pretty often here in Detroit.
a car is a red pill in NY...once u take it you wonder why you subjected yourself to da depressing rotting abyss that is da MTA....
Im just surprised to see some of the responses in here. 1 - 5 accidents with self driving tech and it's "throw away the whole technology" People get into car accidents everyday driving normally yet we don't say "get rid of cars altogether"
You can sue the company operating the robot. But yea, this is a technology we do not need. People are lazy enough as it is. You trying to tell me that moving your ankle and turning a wheel is too hard?? I mean, it is for some, but I don't think technology is the answer. States/cities just need to take driver's ed more seriously.
Just a guess but Uber is dangerously rushing this into service. Uber started their self driving cars in '15 and had the cars on public roads in '16, while Google has been working on theirs since '09. They really not trying to pay drivers.
You live in NY lol... The rest of us have long *** commutes we are sick of driving back and forth from. I've driven enough to last a life time and im 23.
A guy on msnbc was saying that data showed that a technician in an uber self driving car had to grab the wheel every 0.8 miles because of some malfunction.
Love my car actually. Cars driven by humans aren’t going anywhere. Nobody is saying that. What I am saying is human behavior is changing with techinological advances. Driving is the most annoying thing I do on a daily basis. Doesn’t mean there aren’t times where I do enjoy it. Options = improvements.
Machine learning has capabilities not because a computer is more intelligent than the human mind, but due to the amalgamation of data that google and these other companies can leverage into self driving tech....
Automated cars or trucks will be the new wave in the next decade. Taxi drivers and truck drivers will become a fringe group soon regardless of accidents.
another statement made out of fabrication from your bias opinion. first of all, jaywalking is legal in nyc, so there is no way of tracking the incident. second, you stay in a 5 mile radius, so i doubt you know anything about how pedestrian traffic is in long island. third of all, you must have never seen videos of places like india and places in asian where human foot traffic is more congested than nyc. man, it's easy to find flaws in your argument, why don't you analyze what you say.
what are you rambling about? gun culture is far more embedded in the American culture. Just off the shear fact there is an amendment regarding bearing arms. You refer to driving as if it's a right, it's actually a privilege. Also, you don't speak for all individuals, i'm sure there are plenty of people who don't splurge their disposable income on products that depreciate. just because that is what you would do first, doesn't apply to the rest of the world. You should re-frame from making generalized statements. Your rebuttal doesn't even take into account, how there are places in the world that do not rely on a car to get around.
Yeah idk what ninja is talking about. I make like 20k more a year than I did 4 years ago and my car now costs like 5k less
