Floyd Mayweather keeps $123 MILLION in ONE Account?!

Mayweather did not mastermind his business model nor really negotiate his contracts Al Haymon does. You guys don't now who Al Haymon is because Al Haymon doesn't want you to know who he is but he is the most powerful figure in the sport of boxing. In every interview Floyd gives he thanks the fans and Al Haymon. Al Haymon is the guy behind the curtain pulling all of the strings with not only all of the fighters and promoting but the HBO and Showtime deals. Floyd is never going broke as long as Al Haymon is walking on this earth because he will forever have a inside track on the sport of boxing. Remember that its always the ones that you dont see that have all the power. Toodle Loo.

Haymon born and raised in Cleveland. Ohio FTW?

If that bank goes under, he's instantly out $123 Million. As I stated before, most people I've observed with an entourage that large don't keep their money very long. Just an example, supporting 20 people that make $50,000/yr will set him back $10 million each year. Add to that the other expenses he has and I'm actually surprised he still has $123 out of the $333 he's earned over his career. Think about that. He's spent over $200 million over the course of his career and he's got at least 40 more years to live with only 5-10 more years to fight.
Your cynicism is sounding like salt.

Trying to poke holes.

Supporting 20 people may not necessarily mean 20 people show up and collect checks. There may be people that have actual jobs, so its a business expense.

Somebody explained that homey has made 300M+ just off fights.

Not promotional money, endorsement money, business ventures, interest, appearance fees...

Hell, that doesn't even include the $200 mill HBO is shelling out.

I mean... Dude is really flossy with CASH... He takes a lot of pictures with CASH.

I wouldn't be surprised if he purposely left that bank receipt out for the reporter to see it.

Someone made a point about his gambling habits. I've always taken it for play... And if serious, homey bets with the odds.

Didn't see him putting up 4 mil on the heat finals... Or 3 mil on San Fran in the super bowl. Dude takes calculated risk.

Wise brought up a good point about the man behind the scenes. Mayweathee has one of the dopest business structures in sports. You think him, or the man behind the scenes don't know what they're doing?

Like, all of a sudden, he's going to get dumb.

Get outta here famb. I think people criticize May weather because they don't approve of the way he does things. They HOPE he goes broke instead of pointing out logical evidence.

jesus christ. 20 people at 50k a year is not 10 million year..its 1 million a year!!!!  which is easily affordable.

No salty at all. Any good investor doesn't put all of their eggs in one basket, which unfortunately it sounds like he does. He's a great fighter and sounds like a fairly intelligent person. Unfortunately though, whether it's his hubris, or desire to simplify his life it appears like he's going down the same road as so many other great athletes who earn a lot yet have poor financial sense. That's one thing I really appreciate about Lebron. Once he came into the league, he reached out to Warren Buffett as a personal advisor since he knew he would be making hundreds of millions over his career.

I don't see where ya'll are saying Floyd will be broke. If he was smart enough to leave Bob Arum to create his own money making scheme (making money off tickets, hotdogs, bottle water, etc.,) don't ya'll think that he is smart enough to keep it coming in. To even have that model to make money is smart enough alone.

EXACTLY! Floyd's ownership of his own brand and the fact that he's basically his own promoter is unprecedented in boxing. Mike Tyson references are totally off base.

Mayweather was the world’s highest-paid athlete in our June 2012 list with earnings of $85 million, based on his fights with Victor Ortiz ($40 million) and Miguel Cotto ($45 million). Mayweather is able to command a bigger piece of fight revenues by acting as his own fight promoter through his company Mayweather Promotions. He collects all of the revenue from tickets, pay-per-view and sponsorships and covers the costs, including the purse for his opponent.

Mayweather is likely looking at a guarantee of around $200 million for the six-fight deal. Pay-per-view revenues will push that total past $250 million. How much past $250 million depends on the quality and marketability of his opponents, as well as Mayweather staying undefeated.

Mayweather's business model is unusual, but simple: He bets on himself. Mayweather assumes all the up-front risk, guaranteeing the money required for the promotion, which after publicity, advertising, legal fees and insurance reaches around $10 million. In return, Mayweather controls every revenue stream, including foreign sales, site revenue and closed-circuit revenue. The money, minus what goes to the distributors and network, goes to him. Whereas other fighters take guarantees up front, Mayweather cleans up on the back end.

He even pays his opponents purse  (which the promoters take a HUGE chunk out of). Most boxers (hell, athletes in general) get a flat rate. Floyd's deal is set up so that not only does he get a guarantee, but he also gets a portion of the PPV, ticket sales, even CONCESSIONS. If you think the guy that made THIS deal doesn't have plans in place for after boxing, then I don't know what to tell you.

Seriously.

I bet on everything his promo team does good in the future as well. His TMT clothing line is blowing up.

Also like dude said, Haymon will only make Floyd become richer.

I bet Floyd becomes the first sport athlete to become a billionaire.

It's just wild...I mean, he's had a nice amount of funds for a while now...yet...he still acts like new money. So flashy, so arrogant. Not hating at all, but it's just comes off as kind of goofy and pretentious to feel a need to have multiple duffle bags filled with nothing but hundred dollar bills just for an image. And all of those hanger-ons...what love is genuine and what is purchased?

he does it to generate attention from the media, I doubt at this point he really enjoys doing those things as much. Now Adrien Broner on the other hand....
