The Boy Scouts of America's board of directors has unanimously agreed to welcome girls into the Cub Scout program and to forge a path for older girls to pursue and earn the highest rank of Eagle Scout, the organization said Wednesday.

"The historic decision comes after years of receiving requests from families and girls," Boy Scouts of America said in a statement. "[T]he organization evaluated the results of numerous research efforts, gaining input from current members and leaders, as well as parents and girls who've never been involved in Scouting -- to understand how to offer families an important additional choice in meeting the character development needs of all their children."
BSA said the move is also aimed at helping busy families consolidate programs for their children.
"Families today are busier and more diverse than ever. Most are dual-earners and there are more single-parent households than ever before, making convenient programs that serve the whole family more appealing," the BSA statement said.
Boy Scouts of America has about 2.3 million youth members between the ages of 7 and 21 and about 960,000 volunteers in the United States and its territories.

But they have Girl Scouts

Idk wtf is wrong with people these days, crying about anything and everything :smh:
There aren't always a ton of Girl Scout troops and also Girl Scouts don't do the same things as Boy Scouts. Sorta like in little league if a girl wants to play and there aren't enough girls to form a softball league. They just add girls to the boys teams. I remember some girls on our team would crush the ball farther than boys

When I was in Boy Scouts there were maybe 8-9 boys. Adding a few girls wouldn't have hurt anything

So I was told that BS and GS teach different things. So to say, "But they have girl scouts" isn't like saying the NBA will allow female athletes since they already have their own league.

I also wonder if the T R A N S community were attempting to get into the BS and were turned down, BS didn't want THAT heat, so they opened the gates for everyone.

So why not allow Girl Scouts to do more?

So can a boy now join the Girl Scouts?

Society now has turned into such little *****es

Yeah I get why a girl would want more of the skills taught to boy scouts that girls, they actually have sexist leans to both of them. I'm not as outrage as some folks will be, but I'd say just introduce those things to the girl scouts. I think every group should have their safe haven to congregate, girls get their time with girls, boys with boys. It's like if your AA club at college was being sued by white guys for entry. They may be cool, but sometimes you just want that comfort of your own folks.

I mean in Boy Scouts all we did was arts and crafts, field trips, fundraisers, wooden cart derbys etc. we weren't doing anything make specific. It wouldn't tarnish anything to have a girl going to the meetings.

So why not just merge the two leagues in the Young Scouts of America or something?

But as long as my Do-Si-Dos and Thin Mints for the wife aren't affected in anyway, it's whatever to me.
That would make the most sense. Just have Scouts. That way I could get cheap candy bars and cookies at the same time

Word i figured they didnt do the same things.

Lol we had a girl on our baseball team. She had short hair and her name was Stacey, we thought she was a boy cuz she never spoke, had short hair and cuz Stacey Augmon was a guy with the same name. Towards the end of the year we found out she was a girl. She was a sick pitcher tho

This is the same mental I was working off of.

If the issue was the skills and tasks completed in Girls Scouts being relegated to hustling cookies and in-door activities, why not expand the scope of Girls Scouts instead?

It just seems odd. Might as well drop the pretenses at this point and just merge the two now.

Did they specify why they are so adamant about being a part of the boys scouts?

Doesn't make sense

So you're going to have boys in the girl scouts now too?

Hell no they wont

This what I'd like to know. Instead of forcing one group to accept or admit another, why not just adapt more of what the boys do and incorporate that into what the girls do. Wouldn't that make more sense than demanding to be in the boys scouts?
