Bron surpassed Kobe in the "all the great" and "goat conversations" by 08, this is what fueled their frenemy dynamic bc Kobe disliked bron's rising status...not taking anything away from Kobe but had the opportunity to develop with arguably the most dominant player of all time, Bron had to carry a franchise from day 1.. Kobe spent his prime getting bounced in the first round by the suns.. Pau deserves a lot more recognition for saving Kobe's legacy..the mamba mentality was a facade and great PR..he needed an alter ego after the Colorado situation.he believed his own hype which is why his career flamed out.. instead of taking care of his body he pushed it through injures which did nothing for him

Just out of my top 10….Bird (I REALLY think Bird is top 10, but 30 my guy….so I lean there), Hakeem, Dr. J, KD, Moses Malone (underrated as time passes)
Some guys I think have a shot at disrupting this list and entering the convo:
Wemby (first prospect since LeBron that I think truly has GOAT potential. Definition of generational), Giannis, SGA (he is underrated, and overHated), Jokic.

Honestly, the game, teams and eras were so different post merger it's hard to put Russell and Wilt in the context of these other guys but off the respect of their accolades I slot them where they are.

No the LeBron Jordan talks started in 08 and SAS amplified them in 09 and beyond..there was NEVER a time in Kobe's career where he was compared to Jordan and it was a serious conversation..Kobe fans and LeBron haters put him in the conversation towards the end of his career
