Pops used to always rave about him being the only one that could stop Shaq, aside from Darko of course. Damn shame he came over on the way out.

In his prime = The best center in the league today

Probably average around 24 ppg, 12 rpg, 4 apg, 2 bpg & 1 spg

guarded shaq better than anyone else could

Always looked forward to the Shaq vs. Sabonis matchups in the late 90's early 2000's.

That sweeping hook shot and mid ranger jumper were nasty, and he was 7'3".    And he was a better passer than the guards on his team.

Nothing too new in that article.... Good read tho

To be fair, they counted his entire career, including Europe.
If he had came over in 86 Clyde gets 6 titles

Imagine if Sabonis came over and Portland drafted MJ.

He looked awesome in that video in the article.

But I'll always remember him for getting a towel thrown in his face by Sheed.

Dude is so overrated it's ridiculous.

He was a phenomenal passer, everything else was meh.

But yeah, every other year people go on and on and on about what could have been, 25 years after the fact.

Can't really claim that man. Who is to say his game would have translated into NBA play? We don't know. But we all know the stories of the work he put in back then. I can't call it. Won't call it.

Him & that Blazer squad

He was a great C though even before he came over... Well deserved to get inducted.

His overall game was

Plus the way he guarded Shaq... One of the few that you could say that about.

if he was a bit younger during our rivalry with the blazers, theres no doubt in my mind they possibly would've beat us in a playoff series.

There's no doubt in your mind about something being possible, eh?

George Karl and Bill Walton (well, more so George Karl) have no reason to exagerate how good Sabonis is/was.

@ the him being found a week later in the women's Olympic dorm.

heard he worked david robinson in the olympics. yea, he would have been one of the better centers in the league. he's not my Vydas, he's not your Vydas, he's Arvydas
