With all the talk about huge baseball stars and steroids, i havent heard Junior's name tossed around. If it is true that he hasnt juiced. Probably thegreatest ball player of his generation. Unanimous, first ballot hall of famer. "Griffey's baseball-playing career is almost at rest," he wrote."He has the whole nation at his figurative bedside. This is his reward. ... His day in Cooperstown will come without sadness, guilt or reservation. Itwill be the best of days." Much appreciated

I WORSHIPPED this man as a kid...copied everything from the mannerisms, backwards lid

, swing, swag, etc. Had all his kicks, posters, you name it. He is myfavorite baseball player of all time EASILY (noone is seeing him) & might even be my favorite athlete of all time ("Neon" Deion PRIME TIMESanders & MJ FTW

)...I would love to go to Cooperstown when this LEGEND is inducted

...Thanks for keeping in CLEAN/100 Griff!

def apperciated, but these days not one baseball player would surpirse me if they caught being juiced, not even Griff, kind of sad

If he didn't suffer so many injuries I believe he could have had the HR record

That gif just made me realize.......whatever happened to service merchandise?

And I had those shoes when i was kid. I lost one of the shoes somewhere in Texas though. :smh

The KID is definitely appreciated, it's a shame what happened to him in Cincy. He could have went down as the greatest ball player ever if he wouldn'thave been hampered with injury after injury. I knew Osh would come in here and find some way to be a complete @@@*#*%

These two things are related IMO.

Kid's def. appreciated as always.....but no juice?

Let's see....

1. Played in the steroid era.

2. Had many injuries (and chances to use drugs to help him come back which we now have seen is the most used excuse by users that have been caught.....i.e."I just took them to get back faster from injury to help my team.")

3. Had monster numbers. Which brings us to:

4. Here is the current list of single-season HR leaders in the history of MLB.

Single-Season Home Run Leaders

1. 73 - Barry Bonds 2001
2. 70 - Mark McGwire 1998
3. 66 - Sammy Sosa 1998
4. 65 - Mark McGwire 1999
5. 64 - Sammy Sosa 2001
6. 63 - Sammy Sosa 1999
7. 61 - Roger Maris 1961
8. 60 - Babe Ruth 1927
9. 59 - Babe Ruth 1921
10. 58 - Mark McGwire 1997
10. 58 - Jimmie Foxx 1932
10. 58 - Hank Greenberg 1938
10. 58 - Ryan Howard 2006
14. 57 - Luis Gonzalez 2001
14. 57 - Alex Rodriguez 2002
16. 56 - Ken Griffey 1997
16. 56 - Ken Griffey 1998

Grif may very well be completely clean and always was....but he is in a shady group of modern players atop the HR leaderboard. Players who have been proven toneed juice to get to those numbers.

RyGuy's list is pretty thought provoking...

I even look past Maris and Ruth because they didn't play against pitchers who possibly were juicing too.

So Griff put up dumb numbers against an era of roided pitchers?

Hmmmmmm....

13. 54 - Alex Rodriguez 2007

Again, the first list was for 96 years of baseball that century. The next list was just the next decade and that's it.

For how much i want to keep Kid as my idol......you would have to be pretty naive to continue with "Griffey was the only clean one!" way of thinkingwhere there is no doubt and he is the standard for clean superstar players. We just do not know. And we can see the numbers. And the company he is with.
