Former longtime UFC welterweight Georges St-Pierre's hiatus from the Octagon will continue for the foreseeable future as he fulfills another commitment on the silver screen.

Rush will star in a remake of the 1989 cult classic Kickboxer, according to a press release sent out to various media outlets Monday morning.

The press release simply states that GSP and WWE superstar Dave Bautista will star in the remake and does not divulge any details about what sort of role they will play in the film.

The original film starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as the main character, Kurt Sloane.

According to the 1989 movie description on IMDB, "Kurt Sloane must learn the ancient kick boxing art of Muay Thai in order to avenge his brother."

Alain Moussi, a career stuntman and mixed martial artist, will be playing Sloane in the remake, the press release says.

St-Pierre had a small role in the blockbuster March release Captain America: The Winter Soldier, in which he played the Marvel villain Batroc the Leaper.

While the Tristar Gym standout had under 10 minutes of screen time in the superhero movie, apparently his performance was good enough to earn him another role in a major film.

After winning 12 straight fights under the UFC banner, GSP decided to vacate his title and take some time off from fighting back in December, per MMA Junkie.

Many pundits believed that St-Pierre should have lost the belt in his last Octagon appearance at UFC 167 against Johny Hendricks.

While Bigg Rigg put a hurting on the champ, two of the three judges still believe GSP did enough to retain his belt via a split decision.

Hendricks has since won the vacant title at UFC 171 in March, winning a hard-fought decision over Robbie Lawler.

No release date has been announced yet for the martial arts-themed action flick.

Absolutely no need for this crap. Why not have GSP star in an 'original' franchise?

GSP wasn't gonna go back to the ufc anyway. He was about to but didn't reach an agreement with the ufc for a contract.

Oh well. Do your thing and get that paper.

Just realized I already watched this, gsp didn't star, just some sideline drunk. Bad acting and poor fight scenes all around, waste of effort and film. Batista was an awkward tong Po.

The trailer had people had hypedm guessed it failed to deliver :smh: :smh:

With the way camera technology and in general digital film has become cheaper, these low budget movies get better and better looking. These straight to DVD movies don't look it anymore. That great for guys like JCVD cause they can make higher quality films and they don't look like **** anymore. I'm just surprised the fight choreographer was lacking :smh: younthink that's what they got right
