Don't count on ever seeing the "Kenan and Kel" reunion you always hoped for -- because Kel Mitchell tells TMZ, Kenan's dropped him like a hot potato ... and is actively avoiding him.

Kenan Thompson -- who starred with Kel in a million different Nickelodeon projects back in the day -- is currently developing a new comedy pilot with NBC, so we reached out to Kel to see if he'd be making a cameo.

BUT OUR DREAMS WERE DASHED TO PIECES.

Kel tells TMZ, “The truth is Kenan does not want to be seen with me in any form of media, or even have my name mentioned around him.”

Kel says he nearly reunited with Kenan for an interview with a popular magazine but Kenan pulled out at the last minute ... and he thinks it's because Kenan's still trying to separate himself from his old co-star.

But Kel's not bitter, explaining, “I have not been upset about this. I respect his choice of wanting to make a name for himself solo.”

“There is no bad blood on my side, I’m not declining a reunion, I know the fans love the show and would love to see some type of appearance with us … I just don’t see that ever happening because of how he really feels.”

We reached out to Kenan's camp multiple times -- but our calls and emails were not returned.

that sucks, considering it would be a good look for Kel to be on a major show. I kinda see both sides tho. Keenan may not wanna be known as the guy from Keenan and kel, but on the other side he's not really that funny. Kel always was the one imo that made everything

true. But they had good chemistry, and if you want a new show to succeed, why not cast the guy as your crazy childhood friend in your show. It couldnt hurt the shows chances ( itll probably get cancelled anyway, since its NBC)

Although it sucks Kenan is in a crucial stage of his career, Nickelodeon didn't pay black stars much back then. At one point Kenan did a documentary exposing how he was basically poor living in Atlanta.

Kel will stagnate his brand if they're seen together because for almost a decade their names were synonymous with each other, like a package deal.


Kel has to grow up, and wait for Kenan to put out the bat signal IF he even wants to be a duo again, Kel Mitchell was the star no matter how hard they tried to make Kenan the alpha. 

Kel messed his money up and the brand, don't try and leech off Kenan because he crawled out of the grave past his expiration date.

but is it really leeching if it is mutually beneficial for both parties. It sucks that they are known for being a duo, but is anybody really looking for Kenan? its sorta like the new boy meets world show, not going after some of the previous actors. It cant hurt to give him the sidekick role.

Both of the guys brand was the strongest when they were a duo. Now Kenan is know as the larger black guy on SNL and kel's doing small budget syfy and other stuff.

Back on Nick, Kel was by far the funnier one and quite frankly it's really on him that he couldn't capitalize on that when he got older with a solo career. Had that been the case I don't think Kenan at his current status of fame would be able to deny any collaboration with Kel. It makes sense for Kenan to distance himself and there's really no reason why he should reunite. Cuz honestly in the back of his head he's probably fearing that if he hooks back up with dude given that he's been doing nothing of notice the past decade that if he got more lulz and got a little spark back to his career he'd look worse not moving up career wise.
