Based on the discussion attached, it appears as though testing indicates the protection from a 3rd (booster) dose of the OG provides the same protection against Beta and Delta as a targeted ("switched") mRNA booster dose. That's great news.

For now, FDA says no reason for widespread booster program. Not that I completely disagree, but hopefully they allow people to get them if they want them instead of just allowing the shots to be thrown away...

Meanwhile, #GOATvax entered the chat...

Here I am talking about 3rd doses and some people still refuse to get their first despite the wealth of evidence showing they're safe and effective. Thank God for socialized COVID medical care!

Normal surgical masks have pore approx 0.3-10 microns, and viruses are 0.004 to 0.1 microns in size. so how it can prevent virus? Bring the fact no opinion.. so no “but”

Think of it like shooting a bullet through a forest. The space between the trees is huge compared to the bullet but eventually it'll hit a tree.

false equivalence. Comparing a bullet and a tree to a airborne micro particle vs a mask that supposedly is effective

What if Delta can curve bullets like dude in Wanted?

You did I need facts not scenarios. This is serious

theres some actual physics in that article that I didn't want to read

edit for more support: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/sars-cov-2-transmission.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/scientific-brief-sars-cov-2.html
The principal mode by which people are infected with SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) is through exposure to respiratory fluids carrying infectious virus. Exposure occurs in three principal ways: (1) inhalation of very fine respiratory droplets and aerosol particles, (2) deposition of respiratory droplets and particles on exposed mucous membranes in the mouth, nose, or eye by direct splashes and sprays, and (3) touching mucous membranes with hands that have been soiled either directly by virus-containing respiratory fluids or indirectly by touching surfaces with virus on them.

bottom line: yes the COVID virion is smaller than mask pores. but the virion travels via respiratory droplets, which the regular surgical mask DOES BLOCK.

COVID respiratory droplets are minimum around 4.7 microns
In the case of maximum viral-loading derived from experimental data of COVID-19 patients, 7.18 × 10−4% of a respiratory fluid particle from a COVID-19 patient is occupied by SARS-CoV-2. Hence, the minimum size of a respiratory particle that can contain SARS-CoV-2 is calculated to be approximately 4.7 μm.

In a study by Milton et al. [24], they have investigated the effects of using surgical masks in preventing the aerosols influenza transmission. The obtained results indicated that surgical masks had prevented the viral detection aerosols by 25-fold for the coarse aerosols, and 2.5-fold for the fine particles, hence, generally 3.4-fold reduction was reported for the exhaled aerosols. In consequence, the surgical masks can limit the release of the droplets larger than 5 μm.

for sure it's not 100% foolproof or as good as an n95 or higher, but it's something. you add in physical distancing and basic hygeine, we gucci. unless you're planning on throwing COVID into a nebulizer and inhaling from the stream, surgical mask is fine.

edit 2: respiratory droplets don't magically float in the air indefinitely. they like most other things are affected by gravity, so they fall to the ground and are harmless (this is the rationale behind physical distancing). someone would have to directly sneeze in your face with respiratory droplets smaller than .0002 inches to get past that mask

I see brogods brogods is putting in work in here, I remember him from the political thread when he got ban for trying to push bigotry against homosexual people as some pro black thing. And to say that gay people are working toward America accepting pedophilia because it is a byproduct of homosexuality...

So while he is showing his *** in here, remember brahs, he is also a bigot.
