I think my laptop monitor is messing up

two vertical lines appear on my screen, one is purple, one is red. i think cuz i leave it on so much when im not using it

(it's a compaq presario i've had since fall 05)
anyone else have this happen?

has nothing to do with you leaving it on. it's 4 years old, and a compaq, time to move on before the HD dies.

yeah, that happened to me as well. it started out with 1 line, then 2, then 3, etc. I think now it's at 5. i've also had it since fall 2005, but mineis a toshiba satellite. i ALWAYS left it on everyday until i went to sleep, so i think that might have been the problem.

no complaints from me though, it lasted me long enough for the price I paid. just bought a lenovo, so we'll see how that goes.

lenovo laptops are usually beasts, so you should be good. and dead pixels is just bad luck, it has nothing to do with your computer being on all the time. thebrightness may die after a couple years though
