Ice Cube To Start 3 on 3 Basketball League

Gonna go the way of slamball.

Hoops version of "straight to DVD."
we will see what major tv networks they get
If it's anything other than NBC, Fox Sports, or ESPN, it will probably not get any traction
But who knows

Big3 League Participants, Rules And Schedule Announced

Some details about the upcoming 3 on 3 league.

Ice Cube's Big3 League, featuring a who's who of some of your favorite retired NBA players, is scheduled to tip off this Summer beginning on June 24th.

Each team will include five players (three starters, two subs) and those teams will take part in a 10-week season, four games being played each week in a new city, culminating with the championship on August 12th.

According to the Big3 League official website:

"Regular season games will follow each Saturday for 10 weeks. Games are played on centered hardwood courts in the best arenas and venues in the country. Individual player introductions add a new level of personality to this team sport. Instead of a tip off, each game starts with a half-court do-or-die shootout. 4 games per day with fan events, halftime shows, exhibits and after-parties."

"In April 2017, BIG3 will hold a combine for all players in the draft pool. Player captains and co-captains along with the coaches and league executives will watch draft players compete in scrimmages, run drills, and complete strength and conditioning workouts. Following the combine, the BIG3 will hold a draft with each of the eight teams’ captains filling out their five player rosters."

The player captains are: Allen Iverson (player/coach), Chauncey Billups, Jermaine O'Neal, Kenyon Martin, Mike Bibby, Jason Williams, Rashard Lewis, Stephen Jackson, Bonzi Wells, Al Harrington, Corey Maggette, and Ricky Davis.

Other players include: Kenny Anderson, Jamario Moon, Smush Parker, Ruben Patterson, Etan Thomas, Latrell Sprewell, Earl Boykins, J.R. Rider, Brian Cook and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.

In addition to Iverson, the coaches are: Clyde Drexler, Gary Payton, George Gervin, Rick Barry and Rick Mahorn.

Some rules: The first team to 60 points wins with halftime taking place once a team hits 30. Teams must win by 4, there are no foul outs, rebounds must be cleared behind the 3-point line, and there will be "4-point circles" on the court as well.

Brian Scalabrine (The Greatest to Never Do It), Larry Hughes And More Added To Big3 League

Five new players added to the Big3 draft pool.

The Big3 Basketball League has announced a few more players who will join the draft pool including Brian Scalabrine, Larry Hughes, Ivan Johnson, Reggie Evans and Josh Childress.

Scalabrine, aka The White Mamba, now 38 years old, last played for Chicago during the 2011-12 season. Hughes, also 38, is a former first-team All-Defensive selection, Reggie Evans retired as a member of the Kings in 2015, and Childress and Johnson are currently playing overseas in Japan and the Lebanese Basketball League, respectively.

The five men join a crop of talent that already features former NBA stars Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups, Latrell Sprewell, Mike Bibby and Jason Williams.

The Big3 league, co-founded by Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz, is scheduled to tip off on June 24th, featuring eight teams of five playing in a 10-week season at venues across the country.

The draft date hasn't been announced but the league will reportedly be adding new players to the pool every Monday until it's time to select teams.

Smush!!!

You I'm officially intrigued this might **** around and be something to watch

I'm surprised at the number of games being played. Cube smart to start this after NBA playoffs are over.

This **** reminds of the and 1 tour they showed during the summers back in the day

You're righr. It's an evolution. We once had White Chocolate, now we have White Mamba.

I'm mean they got guys who can play and some borderline could still be playing in the NBA.

Would love to see some guys like Nate Robinson, hell they might be on to something

I think for now its just past their prime players. To flourish, they're gonna need college players who didn't make it

I wonder how it's gonna premiere, live-stream or what?
