Nah, it's because the Real MVP's from '05-'06 on, played for a different team.

I thought it was common knowledge regular season MVP winners rarely end up winning the title.

In the past 20 seasons (dating back to the '89-'90 season), it has only been done 7 times by 4 different players.

Michael Jordan ('91, '92, '96, '98)
Hakeem Olajuwon ('94)
Shaquille O'Neal ('00)
Tim Duncan ('03)

So unless your name is Michael Jordan, when you're given the MVP, don't set your sights on that championship just yet.

Where is the stat where the team that beats Houston Rockets in the playoffs never wins a playoff chip?

Not really...imo the MVP was kinda like best player on the best team...hence Nash & Dirk winning those MVP's...
