Ipod Help

Yesterday I went to use my Ipod and all the menus were empty and it had absolutely nothing left. When I plugged it into my computer my itunes couldnt read it.I know I need to restore it but is it possible for me to recover the files I already had on there?

Naw he was probably just pulling the USB cable out instead of ejecting properly.
