not sure about insurance and all that diamond talk, but my sister's fiance got her ring from bluenile. he shopped around for a while, but it was apparently the best value that he could find anywhere. they're both really happy with it.

Bluenile is legit. I just got an engagement ring from jamesallen.com but was looking on bluenile also. Both sites have GIA certified diamonds and you basically pick a diamond then pick a setting and you will typically get the ring in about 2 weeks. You get a warranty but it is also good to add it to your homeowners or renters insurance.
