So I go out to the bar with my friends and I get 1 drink and an appetizer. I'm not in the mood to drink since I was drinking earlier and I'm an hour drive away. My 2 friends are ordering shots and food for themselves and I tell the waitress not once but twice I want my bill separate because I didn't order much. So 15 minutes later I finally get the bill and the waitress was like this guy making a big deal over a 16 dollar bill. Mind you I'm a generous tipper but I felt so disrespected and thought that was just rude and uncalled for. So I paid the bill exact and didn't leave a tip. Am I wrong in this case? I usually tip but not this time. Plus I'm not seeing this chick anytime soon or going here again lol

No because she tried to make you look like a chump.

You did the right thing & I would have done the same thing given your situation.

    Generous tipper btw.

    No.

You don't have to tip at all. **** the wait staff giving you a reason not to.

I would've probably said some harsh things about that waitresses' mother and child.

I don't think you were wrong in this situation. She was trying to clown you on the low and you didn't appreciate it. I've worked as a server before so I recognize the importance of tipping, however it has to be earned.

Kinda off topic, but one thing that I despise is when I have my hand out to receive my card or bill and they place it on the table instead of my outreached hand. I may be over thinking it, but I always feel like it's a Lowkey racial undertone to that.

I think people should leave a note when they don't tip. You have to let them know, Yo, you sucked, I'm not tipping you because your service was weak.
This would change the game so much.

Should've tipped a penny or a nickel. More of a slap in the face than no tip

Did you leave before your friends or at the same time?

Why not just calculate how much you ordered and throw like a $20 into the bill when it comes? Or if you don't have cash, just offer to PayPal or venmo one of them?

Server shouldn't have tried to belittle you in this situation, but you said you told her "not once, but twice". The way you said that, I was thinking that she might've forgotten and brought it out all on one bill, but you said she brought you your separate bill like you asked so maybe you were making it seem like a big deal or something and she got annoyed?

I personally feel like you dont have to tip regardless if you dont want to. And you dont have to tip 20% justbecuase i ordered an expensive meal.

My wife on the other hand disagrees, she actually waited tables as a lil side deal for bout 5 years or so. She told me that when they see people come in alone they automatically know they will get a crap tip so they dont serve them as well as a table of 2+.

I asked, so did they tip you bad she said 9x out of 10 yes. I said well maybe because you thought they werent gonna tip good so your crap service got you a crap tip.

Then i got in to it with her becuase i said just because we go out n total $100 does not mean you deserve $20 tip. If you gave me the same service as a $50 bill table why you get more just because my order was more.

Needless to say, whenever we go ou she's offering up 20% to the waiter/waitress almost regardless and i gotta talk her down when the service was bad. Shes better than me.

$16 for a drink and appetizer? Where did you go-- a hipster speakeasy?

It's not against the law to not tip. That's your prerogative bro.

I would lighten up next time though. She was just kickin jokes. You can play along ya know.

How is a drink and a na appetizer a clownable offense?

Good for you, I wouldn't of tipped either.

If you get **** service, you get a **** tip. And I hate how the percentage switched from 10% to 15%. Like did all y'all restaurant ****** have a meeting. In the not so distant future, tipping will be included in the bill.
