Japan’s population projected to plummet by almost 40 million by 2065

Highly efficient workforce????? They have more salarymen working 100 hr weeks than any other country in the world, some of those men work 600 hours a month. That's like 4 hours a day NOT WORKING.

I moreso meant productivity in the service industry and crazy low unemployment rate.

That is what xenophobia does to a country.

Their economy is gonna suffer major because of this too. Their economy has already been struggling for a good while.

GDP is driven by population growth. If birth rates can't do it, then you have to look to immigrants.

Maybe you can enlighten me but does an economy have to be top 5 worldwide to provide for thier population?

Like does japan need to be a powerhouse if thier population dips drastically?

No a country doesn't need to be in one of the top 5 biggest economies to provide for its people

Measured in USD, Japan's economy was smaller in 2017 than it was in 1995. Their economy has stalled for the past couple decades

Japan's issue is that for a longtime their people was not having enough babies to growth the population. Even worst I think births fell below deaths, and Japanese people are living longer. So you have a situation where there old retired population is larger than the working age population. So jobs go vacant, less taxes are collected than before, less taxes means less people paying into benefits that older people rely on, less inflation, less consumption. It is a bad situation to get in because the only way to fix in without immigration is telling young people to have way more children, children they can't really afford.

The smart solution is immigrants. Immigrants work to you country, they increase the tax base and they boost aggregate demand.

Sure larger economics might be able to handle this situation better because, but it a situation no country wants to find themselves in. That is why Germany is so big on immigration, they want to prevent this from happening to them.

And here we are as Americans sitting in a country that denigrates immigrants. Irony.

I have two relatives that have moved there from the Philippines in the last 7 years, both in IT. Both making a decent amount of money for their field. The hoops they have to go through to maintain their status and then on top of that dealing with the blatant racism and passive aggressiveness they face especially in the work place. They've done well enough to be able to afford a car and a house in the suburbs outside of Tokyo but at every step their being there legitimately is constantly called into question. At this point its more of an annoyance to them than anything else.

One of my friends who is native Japanese told me about when she visited Vietnam recently, she was just absolutely shocked at the amount of children you could see and hear just walking around. Kind of a stark/bleak observation.

having lived in Okinawa for a year , this makes me wonder if military involvement might have something to do with their actions since we dropped the bomb on them .

Japan use to be looked as a feared country from my understanding. it seems like japan has 2 sides , one that is traditional and one that is freestyling the country out of relevancy.

I'd definitely knock up some locals to help the population, its some baddies walking around that little island

This documentary talks about (among other things) some of the issues regarding relationships in Japan. It gets pretty hard to watch near the end. I don't think however it is really complete but it does speak to the extent at which relationships between men and women (sexual or not) have become so openly commercial/transactional. Its not just idol culture, host/hostesses, etc. its fascinating to see when I visit.

I think the xenophobia is mostly a generational thing? For the most part younger japanese I've come across have been more social / willing to be in relationships with foreigners.

1. What is the casual sex scene like in Japan, among natives?

2. In a few sentences, how is Okinawa? More traditional? My only reference is Miyagi

All I know is when I finally go to Japan i’m trying to find those half Japanese / half Brasilian girls.

I’m actually subscribed to her and watched her vids. I dunno why, she’s not really hot.

I think it'd be easier if you went to Brazil my G.

Would be cheaper overall plus you'd have a blast. The locals are amazing people in general.

1. the casual sex scene is pretty standard i guess. I was in the military when i was there so I have a different perspective than someone visiting or living there i guess.. I hit a few chicks that were locals , spoke very little english and just wanted to have a good time with a Gi with hopes of being brought back to the US...
2. Okinawa is definitely traditional, old school japan is still prevalent there. Not as loud or busy as the mainland but it has its own little identity and vices to get into..

havent been there since 2004 and I really want to visit for about a month or two..

black people shouldnt be afraid of visiting at all.. very friendly people

It’s admirable how this country, despite not having a huge population and barely being 60% the size of Texas, can flourish and have so much influence on a lot of daily life things.

Toyota/Lexus, Honda, Nissan, Sony, Panasonic, Nintendo, anime, cameras, fashion, porn, sushi & ramen, even two of my favorite interests: tattoos(irezumi and Japanese-theme) and watches(Casio to Grand Seiko). I haven’t been outside of Japan’s airport but from the Japanese people I’ve encountered they seem the most disciplined and polite.

Edit: Also should be mentioned that Japan has the second highest life expectancy in the world at 85 years old, behind only Monaco.

If I could work my employees to death, I'd be producing some **** too.

As an immigrant currently living in Japan, I can only see things getting worse
