well the richter works on a logarithmic scale. the haiti quake was 7.0. and 8.0 quake is 10x that. 9.0 quake is 100x a 7.0.
as far as human deaths, this japan quake definitely won't come anywhere close to the numbers of the haiti quake.

Yeah, Sunset is right by the water. I live in Daly City/Top of the Hill area and it's by the coast, as well. I don't know how far away from the coast is far enough, but man, I can't sleep until I hear more news.Originally Posted by syxth element

Yeah the Haiti earthquake wasn't THAT strong (don't get me wrong, it was still strong) but their infrastructure was just so poor that it couldn't handle it
