Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

had 2 interviews yesterday. both went excellent.  i got a call yesterday on the way to the interview from a robert-half company about another job i applied to a few days ago. been playing phone tag with this guy :smh:

an i got another call today from this security company.

i been considering getting a security job. it seems pretty easy. they have guard card classes online for under $40. has anyone got a guard card? and then got a job? or is it a waste of time?

I do security now and I would avoid that route all together, do you mind sharing what company it was. All security companies are fickle and shady as a mother....

I'm currently doing tests for two police depts around my way. One saturday then the next on the 14th

I graduated in May with a Finance major and my full-time offer got pulled just a few weeks before I was about to start.

It's so hard to not feel discouraged when you're unemployed, applying, and talking to as many people as you can.

I hope everybody else on NT keeps pushing.

I've had this happen, its so foul. I couldnt believe it either, I didnt know they actually did those kinds of things. Keep your head up though, if you got one before you can get another.

Gotta share this B.S. with somebody. Long story

So I'm working with a temp agency. They had a temp-to-hire position assignment at a company for a HR related position. Interviewed, got hired as a temp. Cool. Get there it's 3 other temps (all from the same agency). We start training and learn the position isn't exactly what was advertised, it was moreso of call center position, not happy..but not trippin either, it's a job.

So around the end of the 2nd week we ask the head manager, "Anne" about what the full extent of the training includes, how long it'll be etc, etc. She says "oh I'm not sure, I'll let you know on a week-to-week basis." Sounds like b.s., but yet again, not really trippin. So About 3 weeks into training, one of the other temps finds a document laying on a desk that says "training schedule for temps", reads through it and it details every week of training for the next 10 weeks, with the last 2 weeks being blocked off for a trip to middle of nowhere, Maine. He relays the info the us and we're like "WTH, you must've read this wrong, nobody said anything about going to Maine". We thought dude made a mistake and he didn't even seem to sure of what he read, so nobody really worries about it.

The next day we have a meeting with somebody from the company (let's call him John), the person who works below Anne, but deals more directly with the position we're being trained for. About 5 mins into the meeting he says "....... you'll have to go up to the main call center in Maine for 2-3 weeks at the end of October, for the last part of your training". Everybody goes :wow:, now knowing that the training schedule was right. Then dude proceeds after looking at our faces "...oh..Anne didn't tell you that already!? Oops..well shoot, you didn't hear it from me." Mind you NOTHING about the possibility of traveling has been mentioned to us by Anne during the interview process or the first 3 weeks of training.

So, 2 of the other temps ask the Anne later that week what would be our full training schedule. Basically, trying to ask her about this so called trip to middle of nowhere Maine, but w/o directly asking her because they weren't trying to snitch on John. Anne again plays the "I'm not sure about the training or how long it'll last, I'll let you know week to week"

Then two of the other full-time employees (without anybody asking) confrim they also had to go up to Maine for training. Yesterday the temp agency calls each of us (temps) to ask us how we felt about the job, and could we see ourselves in it for 2 years plus. I don't know what the other temps said, but I basically informed them there seems to be a lack of communication and transperancy and that doesn't give me a great feeling about everything.

At 7:30 we get off and one of the other employees randomly asks us for our keycards (we've had these keycards since day 1) saying "oh these our the keycards for the whole building, so you can't keep them tonight, but we'll be downstairs to let you in tomorrow morning". At 7:50 the temp agency leaves a message on my phone saying "Hey, (the company) has decided it'd be best if you and them part ways, they're looking for somebody who'll be there long term."

But wait...there's more....not only was I "let go"...I talked to the other 3 temps and ALL of us we're let go. Even the recruiter at the temp agency said "I don't know why they're relieving everybody at once".

So yeah, I'm back on team "We not workin", it's sad grown people who run/manage companies be on bullshh.. like that, but it's part of the game I guess.

Don't think the temp agency should have relayed to them that you said that you wouldn't be there long term. That was negligent on their part. However, with a company like that, its best that you're not their anymore. The lack of transparency and miscommunication are all signs of dysfunction.

Got an interview today for an Admin Asst position w/ the county health department. Wish me luck bros and to those that do, say a prayer for your brethren

True.

There were only 20 people in the office, it takes less than a minute to walk from the front to the back of the office, so it's not like there's 100's of employees and people can't communicate.

Only 18 years old making 16.16 an hour with a raise every 6 months with medical benefits and tuition reimbursement. I'm good. Keep ya head up nters.

going to my interview in a bit will let yall know how it goes

:smh: probably the worst interview ever from me, couldnt calm my nerves, couldnt stop sweating (didnt help that it was 95 degrees outside) but the guy liked my honesty and availability so my fate is in the hands of my former employers which if im being honest wont help me unless they are being nice but im going to wait and see if they call

keep ya head up famb, the interview i was in i thought i was pretty sweaty and nervous but they liked me and i'm goin strong now employed so i'm sure you did great!

Waiting for a call back for this safety coordinator position. I talked to the guy earlier today but he was out of town and was waiting on a business call but it seemed promising. If I can get an interview I think I'll have this job wrapped up, would be a great place for me to start my career and it's only 30min from house.

Just had an interview but was quick as hell. They didn't even ask if I had any questions.

They said I would know either tomorrow or Friday so I'm assuming tomorrow is for their first choices and Friday but for the spaces that the first choice declined.

I don't even know if I should send a thank you email or not since there wasn't much of a conversation during the actual interview

And now I wait. Felt I answered the questions well though I got the vibe that they wanted somebody who is more of a career admin asst. Can just hope and pray

Went to another staffing agency and my recruiter just happened to be a graduate of my alma mater and the same class as me. Crazy in that they tell to make use of your alumni network and this happens. Hopeful that is enough incentive for him to help me find something.

From my experience, quick interviews don't end well as far as getting a job offer

ya when earlier in my job hunting i had an interview far out in the middle of nowhere for me so i spend all day driving out there and arrive early

they say they are running behind so i wait 30-45 mins after my scheduled interview to meet with the manager who asks a couple question and says hell be in touch
mean.gif

well you can all guess how that went no job offer or contact after that

on the other hand i had a quick interview for my "2nd" interview for another job but that was cause it was the same guy who interviewed me the first time and pretty much just gave me the job offer on the spot instead of an interview

so i guess its only good if your on round 2

So I finally got a phone call back and I couldn't answer the phone  this resulted in phone tag and when I finally got a hold of him he said he was wrapping up some business since he was still out of town and he would have to call me back a little later  however, he did thank me for my flexibility and my persistence and let me know that he'll have time in a little while to catch up :D
