Unless you get hired right out of school, you're probably going to have a couple months after graduating from college that you're seeking for that start-up point of the field which you went to post-secondary school for.

what are some types of jobs that you did?

There's different variety of NTers on here, clearly some of you did not have to work and already had an M3 in the driveway. Therefore why not take months off after college.
However, there are others in less-fortunate situations

Still an undergrad with 2 years left but right now I'm with USPS and doing hiring with local PD. Both are federal/ city jobs. My major is public administration so they work together a bit.

worked as a brand ambassador for a while aka handing out beverage samples in grocery stores

did a sting in retail as well

still not in the career i went to school for (graduated '11) but making good enough money now that i don't mind

I taught SAT Prep when I was in college. After college I still taught a couple of classes here and there, but there was much better money in private tutoring. I would just use the same material that I was given to teach the classes for my private tutoring sessions and would charge $30-40/hr cash money. This was a little over 10 years ago where the money went a tad bit further. After I quit teaching the SAT Prep classes I picked up another part time gig "teaching" 1st graders at an after school tutoring. It was more babysitting than actual teaching/tutoring, but it was cool cause I like working with kids. Between the teaching gig and the private tutoring, I probably worked about 10 hrs a week which was just enough for me to pay for my weed and booze. Good times.

in college:

marijuana scientist (for the pharmacy dept of the school)

Gonna be stuck in this in-between phase for a bit.  History doesn't pay the bills, so I'm going back to school for Nursing in the Fall.  Worked as a cook in a hospital when I was taking my pre-reqs and I just transferred onto one of the units as a PCA.  Hopefully I'll be able to get a job there as an RN once I get my license in two years.

Starbucks. I learned so much about business and different management techniques.

A lot of juggling mostly

stadium ops for the Oakland A's

various summer camps/after school programs

tutoring

I was a cable guy lol. One of the most laid back gigs I ever had. I use to milk the most out of my hours and I could take my van home. When I say I almost never drove my car because I ran all errands while at work(had a company gas card), I only drove when I went out friday or saturday nights.

If it wasnt for going in attics during 100 summer weather and crawling under houses from time to time, I may have stayed. I met all type of chicks everyday 8)8)

Just graduated, I fix and clean my parents home since I don't pay for anything. I cut the grass weekly and work part time with my dad with our rental properties.

Uno Chicago Grill at South Street Seaport. I told myself I'd never go back to serving the day I left that place.:x

Miss my coworkers, though. Some good times.

Worked at an animal testing research facility in the dog unit. Paid pretty good money, but the job suuuuuucked.

Nothing like walking into a room of 24 loud ***, caged dogs at 5am. Not to mention having to shove pills down their throats or having to put them down.

Worst job I've ever had. Never again. Luckily my next job was in my career field, although I did work at Finishline for minute to help supplement income.

I worked at a fed ex office store for a lil bit and helped my Mother out with her business...Also had various side hustles going when money was low

still aint really get into my career yet tho :smh:
