Twins, Mauer Agree To Eight-Year Deal
The Twins have reached agreement with Mauer on an eight-year, $184MM extension, tweets Joe Christensen of the Star Tribune.  The pact also includes a full no-trade clause, according to Christensen (via Twitter).  The contract will cover the soon-to-be 27-year-old from the 2011 through the 2018 campaign.

Ateam press release confirms the terms of the deal as well as theno-trade clause.  The Twins and their star catcher will make it allofficial at a press conference tomorrow evening.

Good for him, he deserves it.

Good to see him staying in Minnesota too. Twins needed some good news today.

Maybe if he took a huge paycut to stay in Minny, then yes... not selling out FTW.  But dude still got paid AND stayed on his team, so good for him.

Good for Joe and MAJOR props to the Twins for realizing what they had to do and getting it done...

No chance for the Yankees or Red Sox to steal him like they do everyone else...

They might as well just move him off Catcher though.

Makes no sense to put that much of your overall salary into guy that plays a position where he can (and has) get hurt so easily.

You know what i was saying about Albert NOT getting or asking for ARod money??  Yea, thats officially out the window now.

Albert will get something around 10 year 250-270 million dollar deal after seeing this.....and the cardinals WILL pay it.

On a side note.......I would never put this much money into a catcher.......EVER.  Mike Piazza is what they will end up.......A DH with bad knees in the last 2-3 years of the contract, guaranteed.
