In this case, multiple course Mediterranean food >>>> a pile of fried okra and black eyed pea fritters.  Some people are coming a long way, so we wanted to offer more of a meal than that.

I'm definitely done making promises about food, so I can't tell you for sure what will be there, but one menu item mentioned to me was falafel - and I don't know too many people who dislike that.  

It should be good food, and I can tell you that we actually went OVER budget on it and are going out of pocket to make sure that we're doing our best to provide food that everyone can enjoy.  

I'd rather not sandbag them, especially since I wasn't directly involved in the negotiations and can only offer speculation and hearsay.  

No cooking will be necessary.  You're our guest.  Food WILL be provided and you won't have to bring anything.  

When I was told we'd be serving soul food at the event, I guess it was just assumed to be a done deal because they were available on that date (some of our top choices were not) and offer catering services.  You would think it'd just be "take my money", end of story.  It turns out that it was far more complicated than it should've been, and so we had to go a different way.  Now, though, it's obviously a done deal and we're no longer in need of options.  The arrangements have already been made and we're good to go.  

Again, I regret that the information I gave you earlier was tentative and ultimately proved inaccurate.

To be clear regarding WIkia's relationship with NT:  Wikia acquired Huddler in 2014.  The idea of hosting a NikeTalk Live event at Wikia HQ is actually the brainchild of @HuddlerSteph  and @HuddlerLuis.  They're the (hopefully) proud parents who will be watching over things on site Sunday alongside @Nelson C, the real father of NikeTalk.  

Please do not start bothering catering staff, volunteers, or any stray Wikians who might also be on premises that day about a warning you received 4 years ago.  They're not me and they're not going to know what the hell you're talking about. 

I think it's going to be a great event, and I'm proud to be associated with it, but I live on the opposite side of the country and somebody has to manage the website while everyone else is having fun.  

You guys know as well as I do that if the entire staff were out partying down in SF this weekend, NT would turn into Hamsterdam in about 15 minutes.  (Especially with all the sneaker releases during ASW.)  

That reminds me, in addendum to the previous request:  Please do not start kicking random computers in attempt to evaluate their sentience.  

We'd like to be able to do this again at some point. 

I appreciate the kind words, but it's not like the only way to converse with somebody is to see them in person.  I'd like to think that NikeTalk's forums, and pretty much every other online communications platform, have proven otherwise.  

I appreciate it, but the real thanks belong to @Nelson C, @Jumpmanst, @INSTYLESHOES, @HuddlerLuis   and @HuddlerSteph.   (Most, if not all, of whom you'll get to meet at the event!)

Without them, this wouldn't have taken shape.  I don't deserve the credit just because I'm handling the invites and have time for the Q&A.  

As mentioned earlier, there will be a professional photographer there to take pictures and we'll also have video from the Wikia Fan Studio, so those of us who can't make it in person can still get a sense of what it was like.  
 

I'm hoping we can also extend the charity auction to allow all members to participate, but we'll have to wait and see if that's feasible.  *fingers crossed*
