I think the 23 paint was just rubbed off over time.  The fake '23' logo is a 2 and 3 combined together.  Do you have any more info on these XIs like what year they are from, retro, non-retro or whatever?

I have some OG XIs and the 23 is peeling off a little bit.

also is it worth to buy those transfer paper stickers to redo the 23 or would that throw people off?

The faded 23 looks fake. It's extremely stretched out

check the carbon fiber on em to determine authenticity better, but that jumpman looking suspicious.

The fact that it rubbed off doesn't matter because this will happen with age and wear.  The main issue is how wide it is, just like others have said.  The fake Jordan XIs have come quite a long way, but the 23 on the back is still one of the easiest ways to spot them quickly.
