Because Communications is the best major for anything involving Media .

Most Basketball players feel as if they don't make it in the NBA , they can still be on TV (Sports Reporting ... etc.)

The Communications Major is so broad it's crazy .

I've heard you can really come out of communications to do anything. Not saying that it isn't a watered down major, but I've just heard that thereare a lot of jobs available to communiations major.

I really doubt it has anything to do with them becoming broadcaster and analysts though
