Legal Help needed

I got a summons last week for an open container and the cop told me I could go to any precinct and pay the $25. I was just going to head down and pay it when I fully read it. It says I have to appear in court? Never had this happen before. Is it that serious? Will this be going on some kind of record? Any help is appreciated

Call the clerk of court on Monday. You may can pay it before appearing to court.  Is that the only citation you received?

Yea only one, I really don't want to go to court for this garbage.
