Sup guys. Use this thread to talk about retirement if you want. Strategies, projected dates, travel thoughts, etc. But I really just have a question.

If you received a lump sum of money TODAY, what’s the minimum amount that would make you quit your job today and never work again?

I think 20 million would be my threshold. Anything less and I’m prob not quitting my job on the spot.

10 million, heck maybe even 5. my wife makes decent money.

i’d take my kids to and from school. help them with homework or hire a tutor. go fishing at least once a week. clean up around the new house i would buy for us. learn to cook more things my family likes to eat. stay busy but enjoy life.

no strategy to get there unless all the crypto i own goes insanely parabolic.

500K

Could pull 50K a year off that from investing and I'd be fine. Of course I'm happy with a quiet and simple life. People looking to live it up and be fancy are gonna need more.

Not the best choice to retire, fam. Don't disrupt native lands.

Officially "retire" at 55 then work part time plus take administrative positions for a hefty salary like the older guys at my job.

$2mm right now I can maneuver how I want. Realistically would be stateside until my kids are college freshman then I’m an ex pat baby.

I wouldn’t quit working. Granted, I would quit my current job, but I would use that money to finance something I would enjoy doing on a weekly basis. I’m still too young to just sit back and not do anything.

I'd cop an Arby's. Somehow those things stay in business. I'll drop off the buns every week or something. Last time I was in the drive-thru (don't judge me) that's what I saw the owner doing, then he skirted out in a used Camry. I ain't picky.

A couple mill + move somewhere with free healthcare.

I can stay on a low budget if needed but healthcare is the only unpredictable for me. No way to know what part of the body starts hurting and would probably have to see more specialists which can run expensive af

$20 MILLION!?

1M tax free and im out the door easy!

they say the happiness max is around $75,000 a year, so I just need to get my hands on like $4-5 million.

I hope to be done doing by about 40 or so.

So if you make $100k a year you would need to pay no taxes and save every single dollar you make for 40 years to hit that goal.

The majority of people wont make that much in entire lifetime. Like I said we all gonna die at work.

sure, if you do it by selling your time and labor, dollar-for-minute until you die.

I don't plan on doing that. at all.
