I was driving home yesterday and listening to this and it was like a boxing match.

Pooh led it off like the rapper leading the boxers to the ring. Then Tay and El step in the ring and just boxed it out with all kinda punches.

El
Don't compare me to jokes
I'll strangle the air in your throat
Like you jump from a chair and choke
In mid-air from a rope
Got a big gun and carry a scope
The flare of the smoke
Keep ****** quiet like words that librarians spoke

Second verse both of them went at

Then Phonte's second verse he KILLED it

And Tay is blazing it lovely, cause I'm one with the game
So I sat back, chilled, dropped Foreign Exchange
And a lot of rap ****** got lost
Heard Phont**** carrying tunes and assumed he don got soft
They didn't understand it was my next direction
So I'm playing postman and addressing questions
Like, yes I'm still a LB, no I'm not leaving
No I don't eat meat, but yes I'm still beefin
But all these wack ****** putting records out
This is all live *****, check it out
LB, S Villa fam on a mission
And I ain't worried about people biting "Minstrel Show"
They still teething on "The Listening"

:smh: :x :pimp:

In time context that **** was on point. "Hiding Place" was one of my favorite LB joints, I hate Dilla couldn't be on it.

x 100. Definitely one of the best rap albums to date.

Yo this thread just made me realize the Listening dropped over a decade ago.

^^The Listening dropped when I was a junior in high school and that was around the time when I started to really use the internet and message boards and when I started expanding my taste in Hip Hop and discovering a lot more acts like LB. Great times

repped op. minstrel show dropped when i was a junior in HS and was literally all i listened to for months. my favorite track on the album is probably "all for you" but that's a whole different vibe right there.

might as well make this a minstrel show appreciation post

The two joints with darien brockington on the hook were too smooth...whole album is classic and their best IMO

One of my favorite tracks off one of my favorite albums..The joint off Charity starts at home and comeback season are fire too.

This album is classic. I always go back and forth between this and the listening. I'm still not sure which is better.
