umm... you just stated the reason in the sentence before...

the police did not arrest him... just going up to talk to him equates to a violation?

thats like the police getting a report that your neighbor may have keyed your wife's car... so they go to talk to you to make sure the situation doesn't escalate....

the police did not arrest him... just going up to talk to him equates to a violation?

thats like the police getting a report that your neighbor may have keyed your wife's car... so they go to talk to you to make sure the situation doesn't escalate....

Well, placing someone in a database and putting them under surveillance due to the likelihood that they commit a crime is a lot different than having the police come talk to you about a situatuon that you're directly involved in (someone keying your wife's car.) Those aren't comparable situations at all.

The guy doesn't have a violent record (its unclear if he has a record at all.) Why would it be appropriate for the police to follow him around? Stop trying to justify harassment.

the manpower needed is out of their capability... the visit was a precautionary tactic... 

the way the article is worded will make you feel a certain way..but applying the details to reality, you will see how this is the same as being put on a suspect list because your wife got killed and they don't have any leads.

Yes. They definitely do. Chicago has one of the most expansive police departments in the nation and have been known to use the city's camera infrastructure, drones, stingrays, and other technology to track people. They didn't send a commander to get information from him... He wasn't even involved in the situation, what info could he give?

Again, another situation that is not comparable AT ALL. The first person you rule out in cases like those is the spouse. This is a completely different scenario. Please stop trying to justify police harassment.

1. The entire system you are criticizing is based on the assumption that the victim's friends ARE involved...thus they would have useful info....

2. The analogy of the wife rings true because the system places the victim's friends in the same circle of suspicion as a husband in the situation.

3. Tracking suspects is not illegal under certain circumstances... I don't believe they have drone and camera operators watching these 400+ heat list suspects... they don't have the manpower for that... we are talking about 400+ people on active surveillance in just ONE of the surveillance lists they have....

4. The police don't show up to tell you that you are being watched unless they want info.... lol... you think they are just giving him a heads up?
