Looking for basketball shorts recommendations

Hi, I'm trying to buy my nephew basketball shorts but a lot of reviews say certain ones are thin, like the layup. He wears them to school so I don't want to embarrass him and he's across the country so it'd be a burden to have to return. Can you guys please steer me to the best options? Thanks so much Helen
