Looking to buy a new pair of ear buds

I dont know if this is appropriate for this thread or the general forum but i was going to spend some good money on a new set of ear buds. I just wanted to know if its really worth spending the extra money for a i guess more name brand pair of them. I always just get cheap ones or use the ones i get with my ipod but i was just wondering if some "nice" ones are really that much better as far as sound quality to drop some decent bread on a pair... i was looking at a pair of beats or maybe some bose? any suggestions? thanks ahead of time!
