I was just wondering does anyone know how to make their macbook run faster by cleaning it up, freeing space, etc. Any programs or ways to defrag it?
That will break down twice as fast.Originally Posted by SamDUH562
get a pc for the same price but twice as fast
OmniDiskSweeper is a Mac OS X utility for quickly finding and deleting big, useless files and making space on your hard disks. OmniDiskSweeper scans your disks and highlights the biggest files, so you can determine what's using up your disk space. It's a fast, easy way to find things that are hogging your drive and clear them out so you've got room for the stuff you really need.
Also check out TechTool Deluxe.
I think you'll need applecare in order to be able to download it onto your mac.TechTool Deluxe was a part of the AppleCare Protection Plan for Macintosh computers. It is based on Micromat's powerful TechTool Pro diagnostic and repair utility. TechTool Deluxe checks the major computer components covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan. It is available only by purchasing an AppleCare Protection Plan for a Macintosh.
What does TechTool Deluxe scan/test?
- Video RAM
- USB Ports
- Video Card
- Drive Hardware
- Format Check
- Directory Scan
- Surface Scan
- Random Read
- Random Write
- Linear Read

- Read Buffer

- Volume Structure
You can buy TechTool Deluxe for cheap on ebay but IDK if it will work since mine came with my applecare plan.
You're safest bet is buying an applecare plan for cheap then you'll be able to get techtool for free from apple.com
But if you're not in the market for that, then just buy the disc and see if it works.
