why do you say that? It seemed like he was a new recruit to SHIELD in the mid 90s, and Fury was more hands-on middle management at that time so it was his time to be developed. Fast forward 10 years after CM but before IM1, Coulson should be the #1 point man there.

Coulson was the sidekick who helped connect the movies in phase 1 when the heroes didn't know each other. He stopped being necessary for the movies since 2012 when A1 dropped.
Would it have been nice if Coulson had a larger role in CM? Yes. But if you guys are judging CM by how large Coulson's role was you have your priorities wrong lol
