where were y'all when Illmatic came out?

%#+# became the STANDARD of what a hip-hop classic should be
and y'all doubting his impact? you can name this and that "classic,"
but few can even be mentioned in the same realm as Illmatic.

y'all "opinions" gettin more appaling each day, it's absurd.

you can say you don't like him, but to discredit his impact...that's crazy.
i cosign times 100. this is how u can tell hip hop went to hell, how dare ya name nas as overrated, he is and has always been underrated. u can put these guys in the overrated column tho;

jay z
beenie seigal
lil wayne times 100
ti
almost any new rappers out too, they could never ever go head to head with hip hop legends like nas, big, pac, pun, em, the whole wu tang clan etc. ya dudes is nuts.

hip hop 91-2004>>>>>hip hop 2005-present hands down
how do you put hip hop 91-2004>>>>hip hop 2005-present...and put Jay as overrated in the same breath? Makes no sense....He OWNED hiphop from 98-04. Thats like me saying NBA 85-99>>>>>2000-present and then saying MJ wasn't the GOAT

I see where he's coming from..but Jigga as the GOAT from 91-05?
grin.gif
naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah....

and all y'all smokin some goods if you think Nas is the most over-rated rapper DOA...

Jigga 98-05.

Let's see...

Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life (1998)
Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter (1999)
The Dynasty: Roc La Familia (2000)
The Blueprint (2001)
The Blueprint²: The Gift & the Curse (2002)
The Black Album (2003)

No.

None of those albums are even in the top 25 of their respective release years. It's a slap in the face of rap to say Jigga is even top 15 for 98-05, letalone "GOAT".

Name me 25 albums that dropped in 2001 or 2003 and ill leave you alone.

Pac is the only one that comes to my mind

and to the people that said jay,em,nas or biggie is overrated, how are they overrated?

Sure, 2003:

1. Rip the Jacker
2. Visions of Ghandi
3. Revolutionary Vol. 2
4. Invisible Empire
5. Words From the Duat: The Book of Anubis
6. Click of Respect
7. Kristyles
8. Black August
9. The Book of Shabazz
10. Black August Revisited
11. The Struggle
12. The Horsemen Project
13. Total Eclipse
14. Music, Magic, Myth
15. The Listening
16. Exit
17. 48 Months
18. Divine Design
19. The Ownerz
20. Monster
21. Shadows on the Sun
22. Speakerboxxx/The Love Below
23. Still Reportin'
24. The Darkest Cloud
25. Sin-A-Matic

If You think Jay Z and Nas is overrated you must be like 13-19..im 20 by the way, but i think Wayne is cause he don't tuch on no real subjects.

I would have to say jay-z

he used to rhyme like Das EFX, then he switched his style to copy Biggie's player persona. Then he jacked a lot of Biggie's rhymes.

And he only put out one classic album where the production and lyrics were both at a very high level.

He has definitely had some really good songs since RD, but I think he has been overrated over the past decade or so.

I'd rather listen to Masta Ace.

Good music.
So Kanye, Jay , Pac, Budden, BIG, Lupe dont make good music?? can I hear your top 5 artists

I already posted my top 5 DOA... I made the thread. Here you go though: Big L, Kool G Rap, Big Pun, Rakim , KRS-One

I hope you're only talking about the older KRS-one production because he's just horrible nowdays.

I'd vote for Jay, liked some of his stuff, didnt like even more. 50cent also, hasnt done anything good for rap since GRODT.

man, im from the west and all but imma say tupac was, and is STILL overrated as a rapper
biggie > pac IMO

Your going to say Pac is overrated but then ask how Jay, Em, Nas, and Biggie are overrated?
