My Trip To NYC In Photos

A few weeks ago, I decided I was going to go to NYC for spring break. Why? I love the city and didn't want to go back home for break. Due to having tons of frequent flyer miles and a relative staying out in Queens, I basically only spent money on food and shows (both of which I consumed, heavily, this trip

) I went alone which might be strange to some but I don't mind traveling alone. It's good to get away from it all once in awhile and I don't have to feel responsible for someone else.

Like I said, I spent most of my time just kicking it in and around Manhattan. The most touristy thing I did was probably walk across the Brooklyn Bridge since I didn't have a chance to last time I was in the city. When I wasn't going to a show or trying some new restaurant, I spent my time at various cafe's and parks around the city catching up on my reading. The weather has been pretty incredible this week.

The restaurants I went to worth mentioning... Prosperity Dumpling in Chinatown, Kum Gang San in Flushing, Chikalicious, Curry-Ya, Momofuku Noodle Bar, and Ippudo in the East Village, 53rd and 6th halal food cart, and my favorite of the cafe's I stopped by at, Ost Cafe in the East Village.

The bands I saw included The xx, jj, Nosaj Thing, Best Coast, Japandroids, Leisure, Dum Dum Girls, and GIRLS.

Can't wait to go back after I turn 21 this summer. The constant tease of the bars and 21+ shows was depressing.
Traveling between California and NY > bickering about which is better

Great pictures, looks like a blast. I haven't had the chance to go to NY, but I bet it is better than all the "____>____" talks.

You did more in NYC in a few days than I've done living here all my life....shame on me!...haha

Awesome. I shot the XX an hour or so before for another performance. Wish I had caught Japandroids while I was out there though. Great photos and great story.

Walked around the Dumbo/Brooklyn waterfront for a bit. I did plan to spend a bit more time in Brooklyn but time constraints and everything seemingly worth doing being 21+, conspired to make it a destination for my next trip.

how were they?
They were incredible. Everything was great from the intro to the end. They played an extended, more uptempo version of Basic Space. If you have the chance, definitely try to catch them live (especially if they're heading the show.)
