how long ago was her mother murdered? she more than likely has some sort of post traumatic stress or something. she definitely needs to get with a psychologistand get some professional help. just be supportive.

you have to let her know that she can't be afraid all the time, get her some professional help also.

I wouldn't suggest drugs, to those that deal with depression it can be very dangerous, they can fall into the trap of using that to cope and becomingaddicted because they feel it helps the problem go away. In reality their problems are still there when they come off the high. That can be maddening tosomeone already feeling like there is no solution to the problems they have. Once they realize that the drugs are just a band-aid for the large wound theyhave.

My NONPROFESSIONAL, but very personal advice based on experience:

Anxiety - smoke weed and relax. However, weed can have the exact opposite effect on a control freak. The euphoria can be perceived as losing touch with reality(= losing control) and it can be very anxious for her. Just reinforce that paranoia is normal with weed and that everything IS ok.

depression - get active, exercise, have fun. Make her find something to keep her going. Get a puppy and watch it grow! Do whatever it takes for her to see thatthe beauty in life is in the journey, not the destination.

ADHD - beats me

Substance abuse is the last thing you want to do when you're depressed or have some mental condition. Don't listen to most of these dudes.

do not introduce her to illegal substances.
ive dated a girl that dealth with severe bouts of depression due to a bipolar disorder.
i was usually a a period of time where she was really happy followed by her being really down.
if something like school stressed her out she'd become easily frustrated and break down.

fortunately her parents got her professional help and although it didnt cure anything, it was made manageable.
they gave her antidepressants and stuff and it didnt turn her into a zombie or anything like that.
for times when she was going through and couldnt get to a doctor id just be there to support her in any way possible.

just holding her and assuring her than everything would be ok sometimes helped.
i realized that even if we were going through problems that if it wasnt anything super serious i should just let it go.

just try to be a great force of positive influence in her life. besides getting help there isnt much you can do.

I honestly think weed is GREAT for anxiety (for type B people like me) but potentially disastrous for type As and depressed people (though I too amdepressed...)

adhd isnt a real illness to me, just an excuse for doctors to drug us up even more and get that money. Parents dont know how to control their kids so it mustbe an "illness." This has nothin to do with this thread and I dont have any advice just thought that i should mention it.

Yo OP, I think Rilla suggested something good, get a puppy that's mad cute (girls love Yorkies) and raise it with her, go outside and take walks with itand play in the park. Cute puppies are just innocent little things that could make anyone happy.
