New Orleans Begins Controversial Removal of Confederate Monuments

Do you know where history is conserved? In museums and history books. All this talk about preserving it by keeping the symbols of one of the greatest proponents of American division in public places is moot.

Just a little update for y'all....

I really fear that it's going to get out of control soon. I live literally two minutes from this monument. The monument supporters are largely from other places in the south sadly.

scrubbing history is dumb, and what you're doing is giving supporters of da rebel flag for innocuous reasons (yes they do exist) martyrdom status.

besides, seen da State flag of their next door neighbors? heh.

scrubbing history is dumb yet you do the same when topics of your lineage comes into play. especially when it concerns the african side of your roots. You pick and choose where you want to argue. so it's funny to see you take this side of the argument, however, i am in no way surprised. your track record is beyond tarnished. so i guess it's expected.

Should us black folks really give a damn?

For centuries we have had non black cultures try and erase our presence history culture and artifacts.

I mean come one you gotta be a straight hater to do stuff like this.
We are surrounded by haters who do stuff like this!

I always hated the "the confederate flag isn't about racism" arguments.

We all know one of the biggest points of contention that the south had. Either you were down with it, or you are okay with something that abhorrent that you would still wave that flag. Either way, **** you basically.

I always hated the "the confederate flag isn't about racism" arguments.

as someone who don't care either way, i can see how that would be a valid argument by da existence of...

being a iconic pop cultural piece of television, which transcended way past its origins.

so yeah, you kinda have to factor in da fact that most people only know of da flag in da 1st place cuz of da TV show back in da day...

judging by da ratings in its second season on network television, it was pretty popular.

^ its a neck to neck race between u and h2hcocks for the most ignorant person on nt. You just took the lead with that atrocious example.

God damn you're ignorant.

ayo my man, you doing alot of gum flappin when u need to do more listening.

this energy u giving off for no reason based on a assessment i made from a television show viewed by 21+ million people which you can make da case, exposed da Confederate flag for da 1st time in a innocuous way SHOULD be...

as a New Yorker, da 1st time i ever seen that Flag was on da roof of a Orange Charger, and Millions of other folks in my demographic have that same shared experience, so im factoring in that factoid.

that's all im saying...all that other ish u can keep to urself b.

Were u eem alive in 80....81 ? Lol

Im from the south and I've never seen that show once.

First time i saw a confederate flag was on a person.

Yes bro, peoples first acknowledgement of the flag is because of da hemi on tv.

uhh yeah...even Ebro, da outspoken radio host on black issues on hot 97 shared similar sentiments.

what you think, large swaths of people of color in da 80's weren't watching Duke's of Hazzard by da millions and being exposed to it for da 1st time?

 surely u can't be this naive....we're talking pre internet, pre cable, entertainment landscape...
