I jus got thru watching the episode of gangland and for watever reason it really interested me. Maybe it's because i grew up in a neighborhood with a bigblood influence. However i realize everytime theres a thread about gangs or listen to some old NY cats I here the talk about gangs in NY are "Fake".Although i never really believed this after reading some articles online i have come to the realization that East coast Bloods(UBN) is jus as big if not biggerthan Westcoast Bloods.

The United Blood Nation (UBN) originated as a Blood card in the west coast prison systems in the early 80's to put down all street beef between bloods inprison who wanted to participate with the card and unite them to protect themselves from the Crips, Sureños, and Aryans. The original UBN card had an influencein California and Washington State prison systems. The original west coast concept is now completely dead, but was re-birthed in the east coast by O.G. Mackwhen he created the East Coast version of the united Blood Nation card in 1993 in the C-73 section of New Yorks Rikers Island Correctional Facility.

O.G. Mack, whos real name is Omar Portee, was raised by his grandmother on 183rd Street and Davidson Avenue in the Bronx and was an active high ranking memberof a ruthless gang in the area called the One Eight Trey Gangsters who were part of the NYG alliance. He was arrested in 1988 at age 16 for an armed robbery heparticipated in with his gang. After serving 3 years at Rikers Island, he was released in 1991 at age 19 and went out to the west coast to spend time with hisfamily in Los Angeles in an attempt to stay away from the trouble of hanging around the deadly gangs of New York City. What he didn't realize was thatgangs where also very prevalent in Los Angeles and his family in Los Angeles were members of the Miller Gangster Bloods. O.G. Mack's natural ruhtlessnessimpressed his family and the Miller Gangster Bloods who quickly absorbed him into the Los Angeles gang culture. Even though he never officially joined theMillers, he still participated in their gang activities and was considered a Blood while he stayed a loyal member of the One Eight Trey Gangsters. 2 yearslater (1993) he returned to New York City to spread the Bloods with the permission of the Millers. Upon returning to New York City he was welcomed back by theOne Eight Trey Gangsters with open arms and O.G. Mack quickly convinced the gang to drop from the NYG alliance and tranform the One Eight Trey Gangsters intothe One Eight Trey Gangster Bloods under the Bloods alliance. Within months of returning to New York City O.G. Mack was arrested for attempted murder and sentback to Rikers Island.

By early 1993 The Bloodline Latin Kings (Bloodline is a nickname for the New York State Chapter of the Latin Kings, which was started by King Blood) and theNetas were the 2 largest and most violent latino organizations on the streets and prisons of New York City and were inflicting violence on blacks along withother Latino organizations like DDP (Dominicans Don't Play), Trinitarios (3ni), La Familia, and many others. The latino organizations controlled the NewYork State prison systems and targeted indepedent black gangs with daily acts of violence. At this time the existing independent black organizations in RikersIsland were fighting amongst themselves over street beef that they carried over into the jails and weren't recieving help from the NYG or NYC allainces. Also present were the 8 Ballers (8 Ball Crips), which was a super-sized Hybrid gang born in Kansas City Missouri as the result of the Crips and GangsterDisciples in Kansas City merging their gangs into one. They quickly made their way to New York City and successfully united most of New York City'sexisting Crips and Gangster Disciples into 8 Ballers. The independent gangs and O.G Mack's Blood set desperately needed a way to unite, which would be theonly way they could protect themselves. In October of 1993 O.G. Mack (who was already a high ranking member of the One Eight Trey Gangster Bloods who'soriginal turf is from 183rd street & Andrews avenue to Webster avenue in The Bronx, NY) saw the void of unity with the independent black organizations inRikers Island and called for a meeting of several gang leaders. He approached them with the idea of uniting their gangs togther as Blood sets and expanding tohelp end the violence the Latin organizations and 8 Ball Crips were inflicting upon them by creating an East Coast version of the United Blood Nation in RikersIsland. Some of the existing independent black organizations in Rikers Island were tired of fighting amongst themselves and saw this as a great opportunity tounite and finally stop the abuse from the Latino organizations and end the racial conflicts between blacks and latins in the NY prison system.

Within a few months, four of the independent black organizations in Rikers Island were sanctioned into Blood sets by O.G. Mack and helped re-birth the U.B.N.card along with O.G. Mack's right hand man named O.G. Deadeye (Leonard Mackenzie). O.G. Deadeye got his nickname for his cloudy right eye that looked dead.Deadeye, formerly of Howard Avenue in Brooklyn, was born to a 14-year-old mother. Deadeye's rap sheet showed 11 arrests between 1985 and 1993, includingthree robberies, two assaults, a gun charge and a murder. O.G. Deadeye was the Captain of his own GodBody cipher under the NYG alliance that was based inRikers Island and upon meeting O.G. Mack he flipped his Cipher into the GKB (Gangster Killer Bloods) a.k.a. G Shine Bloods set which helped fuel the growth ofthe re-born UBN in prison.

Many Bloodline Latin Kings, Netas and other latinos who didn't agree with latinos attacking blacks over race also decided flip and join the UBN sets. TheBloods quickly became a strong force in the prison systems on the east and the Bloodline Latin Kings, Netas, DDP's Trinitarios, La Familia, and 8 BallCrips no longer severely out-numbered them. The unfair abuse stopped but a fair war began which lead to many years of bloodshed between Latin organizations andthe 8 ball Crips against the UBN Blood sets in New Yorks prison system.

By the year 2001, 8 years after the UBN was first introduced in Rikers Island, the Bloods were a major force in prison systems and cities all across theeastern seaboard from Maine to Florida. In this same year, the UBN merged with Black P Stone East (New Yorks Chapter of the Almighty Black P Stone Nation) toreconstruct the entire UBN as an entirely new super-sized Hybrid gang (just like the 8 Ball Crips). The sets that originated under the East Coast version ofthe UBN soon spread beyond the east throughout the whole south, some parts of the midwest, and even the west coast in states like Oregon and Washington. Thereare only 5 Blood sets that originated under the East Coast UBN concept but they are all spread throughout the United States and very large in numbers. The setsthat originated under the East Coast UBN each own massive amounts of territories all around the United States. The reason for this is because they rapidlyspread through the prison systems (unlike the Bloods in L.A., which spread in their neighborhoods), so when members started being released from jail they wentback to their own separate neighborhoods, started recruiting, and formed their own sub-clicks of each set called "Line-Ups" or "Lines".

4 out of the 5 Original East Coast UBN sets already existed as street organizations before joining the Bloods. These sets are the One Eight Trey Gangsterswhich was lead by O.G. Mack (Omar Portee) and headquarters are 183rd Street & Davidson Avenue in the West Bronx, Sex Money Murder which was lead by PistolPete (Peter Rollack) and headquarters is Soundview Projects in the East Bronx, Valentine Gangster Bloods which was created from the entire Chapter 4 of theUniversal Zulu Nation flipping to Blood under the decision of it's highest ranking leader named Valentine and their headquarters are the Bronx RiverProjects, and G Shine (GKB) which originated as a GodBody cipher under O.G. Deadeye. The Nine Trey Gangsters (who's name represents 1993 Gangsters whichshows homage to the year they started) started in Rikers Island as a result of inmates who belonged to no particular gang banning together to create this Bloodset, and Rikers Island is regarded as their headquarters.

Even though the original East Coast UBN Blood sets have turfs in multiple cities spread throughout much of the United states, each member of these sets stillshow great loyalty to the East Coast and New York City. They all call themselves East Side Riders and throw up the East Coast hand sign to show their devotionand loyalty to New York City as the motherland for the rebirth of the UBN. Also, many members of these 5 orginal sets have broken away and branched out to formand estabish their own East Side (East Coast) Blood sets.

The UBN is known to have a secret UBN Book Of Knowledge that contains pages of information such as advanced codes, oaths, pledges, customs, and prayers thateach of the Blood sets under the UBN must learn and live by. The UBN Book Of Knowledge was created as the result of the Almighty Flame Alliance, which is thename of the merger between the UBN and Black P Stone East that caused the new reconstruction of the UBN as a super-sized Hybrid gang. The UBN takes the Book ofKnowledge so serious that they have even put a hit out on O.G. Mack (their founder) by labeling him "food' for violating their first rule - "Inour organization we will have no snitches". The UBN now represents the Black P Stones 5 point star/principles, but instead of considering themselves apart of the People Nation alliance or the Bloods alliance, they consider themselves the "United Blood Nation - The New Blood of the People Alliance".This merger has been widely embraced by many Blood sets and Black P Stone Decks around the country and the world which has lead to hundreds to thousands of newUBN sets. Many (not all) Chicago and Los Angeles motherland natives have shown great animosity and hatred towards this new Gang.
So with this i'm wondering how can anyone really sit here and act like These gangs in Ny are just a phase?
