The NFL really has the worse players union. The commissioner is making far more than most players

The owners view him as more important to their league than the players which is why he gets paid what he gets paid . He has to clean up their messes and takes the heat for nonsense that probably isn’t his fault. The NFL has the worst players Union because the players themselves don’t have the financial flexibility to hold out for better in a sport where the average career is significantly less than in other sports. The reason the MLB and NBA PAs are so strong is because the players themselves are willing to do everything they can to get a good deal. Part of the confidence comes from having guaranteed deals and the fact that in those leagues your career could span well into your late 30s and early 40s if you play your cards right where that isn’t likely in the NFL unless you play QB and that is totally due to rules changes. The NFLPA tells the players to save up but if you are in your mid 20s and can only hope to play into your early 30s every year you don’t play is money you won’t have in the future. Therefore the players are willing to do whatever as not to lose game checks even accepting or pushing the union to accept bad deals. The last time the owners locked the players out the NFLPA was getting flooded with players telling them to get a deal done within the first two weeks.
