You might be able to wear them, but they probably won't last long. Had a pair back in '04 or '05 and those joints were already unwearable. But hey, for $50 why not try it and see what happens. I'm sure they'll retro eventually anyways.
I grabbed these w/a 15% off on endclothing. I usually wear a 9.5 in Jordan III and XI, a 10 in almost all Air Max - except the Air 180 EM - I had those in a sz. 10, but they were really narrow in the toe box. Went a .5 size up and they fit better. With these retro Air Max 98's, I had a gut feeling they'd fit like more recent Air Max 97s. One pair of 97's I had in sz. 10 were narrow, but not so uncomfortable like the Air 180 EM in a sz 10. So, I got these 98's in a sz 10.5 and they fit very, very, very slightly roomy in the toe box area, but totally fine. If you have a pair, they fit very much the same as my Adidas torsion integral S in a size 10. Peace, F Sharp005
I'm not pained, but it definitely has me hesitating. I know with my luck, the second I buy them at retail, I'll see them for 115. Trying not to succumb to my own hype, but it's difficult.
Yo, i had that happen . It was theeee worst lmao. I was at a game and on the far end of the bleachers while the exit was on the opposite end of the gym. My joints barely made it out of the doors. Makes me leery about buying anything too old w/ intentions to wear them.
the same thing happened to me when i unDSed a pair of AM95s from 1999 i went down town to buy some hotwings and when i arrived at the hotwing shop they crumbled like a biscuit at first i didnt even noticed until a employee asked me what is happened to my shoes so i looked down at my feet and saw that my 95s were all F'ed up i looked like a fool tho, and the worst thing was that i had to walk back 10mins to my car, with my outsole and air unit flapping out people on the street looked at me if i was crack junkie or something like that
I'd vote no. I recently sold a pair on ebay and the buyer cracked them, and then somehow won a case against me. ...Posted that story in the "vintage heat" thread in showcase. Don't even want to get into it again. But, the '96 just doesn't hold up well. I have this CW that I would love to break out, but I just don't think they'll survive. While we're on the subject, has anybody pulled out a new pair or either of these recently? Any success stories on these holding up? The bubbles are still really firm on all three of these. Yeah, I don't even try with 95s anymore. I lost Yellow Streaks, Crystal Blues, and leather Slates all in one summer a few years ago. Tempted to try a pair of Fire Pinks out, but too gun shy. I don't even like wearing my Pools for much walking and those are a few years younger than the others.
DAMN !!! thats a lot of old decent heat what died on your feet R.I.P. i still have pair of vvvnds Wmns AM95 signal blue from 99, i already wore them a couple of hours inside the house they still are intact but im scared as hell to wear them outside, cuz im affraid that they will crack also this summer i think i gonna unds all my 95s from 2001-2003 before its too late and i cant wear them anymore
i wouldn't wear those. from what i've found with retros, if they've been worn a few times back around when they came out, they hold up a lot better than if never worn.
Can't wait for the team orange colorway to be discounted. Refuse to pay $160. Hope to pay less than $100 for a pair. Don't think many are on these.
Which Eblens did you go to? I just stopped at the one around the corner from me and they never got the 98s there
The one I went to is in Lowell, Ma. It's near one of the sites I visit for work. I went by there yesterday to check on grabbing a size for an NTer and it looks like they some what corrected the price on them. They now have them listed for $139.98 instead of the $99.98 I bought them for. Still $20 cheaper than retail but nowhere near the steal they were priced at! Finishline should eventually get the Blue color so I would wait for them so you can use discount codes and rewards card.
Glad I read this, I've came across a few DS pair on ebay for like the past 2-3 years but never pulled the trigger. I would have thought they would have held up enough to wear now. Lesson to everyone else that DS their kicks, WEAR YOUR SHOES!!
What's the name of the second one from the bottom? Is it air max sc or something? I remember this pretty girl that lived in my building had them. I wonder whatever happened to her , but I digress

Of course the Providence store got none. I'm going to have to call the other stores in my area to see if they still have them

That's what was awesome about the Air Max 98 TL's. They used a Phlylon midsole with the air units, so they were not susceptible to crumbling. Just separation and air leakage. The GS versions of the 98 TL's used the air max 97 midsole which was polyurethane so of course those would crumble now. Im waiting for a retro of the 98 TL's. One of my Favorite Air Maxes of all time. The white/Blue/Neon was the pair I had multiple times and wore them to the ground. I have a feeling if they do retro, they will end up using the 97 midsole which I am not fond of. Adult Version GS Version
I too loved the 98 TL. The midsole is still going strong, but one of the air units sprung a leak. It's like driving around on a flat tire.
