Another hybrid, another year. Here’s a first look at the Nike Air Max Tailwind 96-12.

Previewed in three Summer 2012 colorways:

- White/Black/Soar
- White/Dark Grey/Sport Red
- Black/Anthracite/Wolf Grey

Nike Air Max Tailwind 96-12 takes the entire upper layout of the 1996 released Air Max Tailwind shoe and couples it with new bottom tooling. The original silhouette featured a large volume visible heel Air unit while the refurbished 2012 Tailwind picks up visible Air at both heel and forefoot.

Does the new mashup design strike nostalgia or rage? Let your wallet decide next year as the Air Max Tailwind 96-12 launches with a price tag of $100.

SONUVA!@#$%%^%^!!!!!!! Please stop doing this with some of our MOST coveted kicks. So these are technically 96 tailwinds but they also did this a few years ago with actual AM 96's with what was at the time, Nike's 180 air midsole. Then there's that whole Huarache/Free thing next year. This is just cruel. Like "Let's see how bad we can make it and they'll still buy cause it's close enough...."

That's been Nike's gameplan / business model this whole time...

If it doesn't sell the first go round at retail they know they have the outlet sales to fall back on.

I'm actually pretty sure they factor that into their sales projections...

I hate the look of those air bags. It's not even one whole air bag and it doesn't look like something that would even be sold outside of a low end sports store like Sport Mart.
