Inspired by the popular Nike Air Trainer worn by world-class athletes Bo Jackson and John McEnroe, who ignited the athletic training boom 20 years ago, thenew Nike Trainer 1 was designed to provide today's athletes with lightweight comfort and support as they prepare for competition.

"The Nike Trainer 1 will help athletes prepare and perform better in their sport," said Kris Aman, Vice President and General Manager of NikeAthletic Training. "To create this shoe, we've taken the very best from our rich training heritage and combined it with new innovations and insightsfrom today's best athletes."

Bo Jackson and John McEnroe made the original Nike Air Trainer famous in the late '80s - Jackson through the cross-training preparation that helped himexcel in both professional baseball and football, and McEnroe by donning the Nike Air Trainer on-court during his heyday.

To address the needs of athletes and the demands of today's dynamic training, the Nike Trainer 1 features Nike DiamondFLX, a patent-pending outsolesystem that provides flexibility and support through multi-directional movement - ideal for any training regimen.

"The Nike Trainer 1's are extremely comfortable and the flexibility is awesome," said NFL All-Pro player Adrian Peterson. "I have alreadystarted wearing them for my training drills and for weight room workouts. It's an amazing performance shoe that will give me an edge on the playingfield."

A lightweight upper, with midfoot and forefoot overlays connected to the lacing system, works with an inner Dynamic Fit sleeve to provide a secure,glove-like fit and the lock-down support a foot needs. The mid-sole also features a Nike Max Air unit in the heel to provide impact protection and comfort.

As part of the launch event in Southern California, Nike athletes Larry Fitzgerald, Adrian Peterson, Troy Polamalu, Brandon Roy, Amar'e Stoudemire,Bryan Clay and Matt James (Pro Trainer) led more than 50 local Southern California youth from all sports in a comprehensive training workout.

It now appears the pair on ebay is the shoe the students at UC Irvine got to train in, which is likely to be one of the first colorways to see the GeneralRelease treatment:

my thoughts....
Among all that discussion though, no talk about the zoom trainer 1. which at the time was the "air trainer rebirth" or restoration type shoe. Thatwas essentially what this is, yet somehow this is getting dubbed the new trainer while ignoring the zooms.. the zooms are my babies. i just feel a bit ofbitterness inside. Nike reinvents itself everyday

im left thinking ," what are the zoom trainers? chopped liver?"

never the less check out those links if you want more in depth coverage.

As weird as this sounds coming from a person like myself, but the "OG" colorway just doesnt do it for me with these. I love the white grey carolinablue, almost a mcfly type c/w, and all those others. adrians, larrys, amares, palo..
Anybody out in Irvine today take part in this activity? I dont know why they were outside training in a shoe deep rooted in "gyms" but icant complain.

Thoughts...

Those look pretty cool...that flywire gimmick is getting stale though

interesting.

i like that white/gray/caro the best.

but dude, i wouldn't mind if they really made your mowabb ps from the manny thread.

This is the best news I've heard in a LOOOOONG time!!! I traded my Pacman's recently hoping that Nike would mass produce these in other colorways.Thank You Shoe Gods!!!

I knew almost nothing about the manny trainers from a construction standpoint. this little tidbit of info is what sells me onto certain models.

from that article above:
To address the needs of athletes and the demands of today's dynamic training, the Nike Trainer 1 features Nike DiamondFLX, a patent-pending outsole system that provides flexibility and support through multi-directional movement - ideal for any training regimen.
So I look up diamondflx and realize that its been on some women's fitness shoes for almost a year now. but not in the same form as these newtrainers.. this evolution is

This is where Nike's new training shoes come in.

One of the new technologies that makes the Nike Sister Series of training shoes so special is DiamondFLX (pronounced diamond flex) technology in the soles. Basically, each sole is made up of varying sizes of diamonds which enables it to be twisted and turned at any point with unprecedented flexibility; at the heel, the ball of the foot, the middle of the sole. The purpose? However your foot moves, the shoe moves. Oh and ladies listen up - this technology is exclusive to the Sister Series…that's right, the guys don't even have it yet.

Now lets look at the manny trainer. We all mightve seen what the bottoms look like but had no idea what it meant.. Now the information comes full circle:

its beginning to sound like a performance beast.. i do miss the velcro strap though.

WOW im so happy about these, freakin copped easily. anyway got good pics of all the colorways dropping?

Thanks for the heads up about NikeMedia - always love watching new Tinker interviews.

I like the look of the shoe. Decent price point. But I have a strong feeling a lot of people are going to take an L wearing these as an outdoor performanceshoe.

This reminds me... I need to get my core POPPIN' before June lol...
