I agree. I'm 30 and I'm so sick of guys my age or older on here hitting the younger guys with the "you had to be there" ****. It's really lame. You can make a point without putting them down for being young or whatever. Have a little respect.
Also, do these have a NDC release date? I remember the originals in all their glory but i don't care. I like these.
Waiting for more stores to get these in... im sure they will start showing up more as the weeks go by.
they shoulda stuck with the OG goal post/home plate. But after watching that interview i see why they didnt.
for those who didn't watch the complex vid deion pretty much said he'd never work with nike again so they'll never have the full luster from back then nike stay playing the people who put them in prime position no pun intended
If he wasn't promised royalties or kickbacks down the road he can't really complain. I get why he's mad though. If they came with the right money he'd flip. Everybody has a price.
Nike's never given kick backs I believe. They pay for the use of the name. Millions. In Brons case, billions.
Right, and his name on the current retro is not on that shoe. Now yes, we as fans/sneakerheads associate that shoe to Primetime. But like I said I get why he's mad. He feels like he made that shoe. We know and recognize the shoe because of him, which is entirely true. It was his signature shoe afterall and had his name on it at one time. Now if he had it contracted that for ever pair of that shoe sold he would get however much then that's a different story. Take the Jordan I, if MJ didn't wear them would we even care? It's just a slightly modified Dunk otherwise. But because MJ wore them they are legendary. So: Primetime mad he ain't getting paid no more.
retros also became popular well beyond when those earlier contracts were signed nike benefited off old business practices and I know nike has and hasn't done certain things, that doesn't make it right
i think deion is slightly delusional tho... he said in that Jacques Slade interview that 3/4 shoes didn't exist before the dt1 and he also said durabuck and mid foot straps didn't exist which is all untrue. i think he is misremembering how much input he actually had
I guess Nike and Deion had this falling out after 05. The 05 retro def had the OG logo. Hell the DT II's have the OG logo
my point is that contract was made before this new style of sales and marketing people just didn't know to add those types of stipulations to their contracts at the time it's like a 360 deal, labels say they can make money off you in forms that are yet to be known that could've worked in the athletes favor in the reverse way
Something tells me Deion is a lot of talk b/c he couldn't get Nike to pay what he wanted. It's likely he priced himself out (although who's to say they didn't try to lowball him). If they did, he'd come back around. Thing is Nike doesn't need him to market and sell the shoe b/c luckily for them everyone automatically thinks of the relationship, courtesy of the work they with him years ago.
